Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of dealership transactions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Post certain transactions and reconcile the monthly manufacturer factory part statements.
- Reconcile extended warranty and insurance product reconciliations.
- Reconcile finance reserve statements and post monthly adjustments
- Reconcile monthly floorplan statements
- Prepare the monthly sales professional unit count and sales achievement reports.
- Research and post certain transactions on weekly bank statement as needed
- Assist Dealership Controller with end of month closeout entries.
- Backup certain accounting clerk desks as needed.
- Assist the Dealership Controller in training accounting clerks and overseeing certain schedules designated by the Dealership Controller.
- Serves as supervisor to the accounting staff in absence of the Dealership Controller and/or Office Manager.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Solid understanding of principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping.
- Superb time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and excellent detail orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and partner information.
- Strong mathematical, analytical and communication skills
Education and Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of experience working in accounting required
- Prior automotive dealership accounting experience preferred but not required
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft office, specifically Excel
Physical Requirements:
- May lift objects that weigh as much as 15 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
