Staff Pharmacist Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff pharmacist in Arkansas?
To become a staff pharmacist in Arkansas, you must earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited program, pass the NAPLEX and MPJE exams, and obtain licensure through the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy. The Board also requires a completed internship under a licensed preceptor before full licensure is granted. Graduates who completed their PharmD in another state may apply for licensure by reciprocity if they meet Arkansas's requirements.
How much do staff pharmacists make in Arkansas?
Staff pharmacists in Arkansas earn a median of about $136,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $105,560 for the lowest 10% to over $164,940 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire staff pharmacists in Arkansas?
Arkansas staff pharmacist roles are posted by Walmart, CVS Health, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Arkansas's mix of large retail chains, regional hospital systems, and federally qualified health centers keeps demand for licensed pharmacists steady throughout the year.
Which Arkansas cities have the most staff pharmacist jobs?
Springdale, Fayetteville, and Rogers have the most staff pharmacist openings in Arkansas right now. Little Rock leads due to its concentration of major hospital systems and retail pharmacy operations, while Fayetteville and Fort Smith draw steady demand from the Northwest Arkansas healthcare corridor and a growing network of outpatient and specialty clinics tied to large regional employers.
Are there remote staff pharmacist jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of staff pharmacist openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on most pharmacy roles are by nature. The portions of the role most likely to be performed remotely are telepharmacy consultations, medication therapy management reviews, and clinical pharmacist advisory work for payers or pharmacy benefit managers.
How can I get hired as a staff pharmacist in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a pharmacy residency or a new-graduate staff position at a large Arkansas health system such as UAMS Medical Center or Baptist Health, both of which recruit directly from pharmacy school programs. Completing an Arkansas-based ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency significantly strengthens a new graduate's candidacy for clinical roles. Candidates without residency experience can build their record through pharmacy technician or intern positions at retail or hospital pharmacies before transitioning into a licensed staff role.
