STEM OPT Deployment Engineer Jobs
Deployment Engineer roles in CI/CD pipeline management, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations qualify for STEM OPT when your degree is in computer science, information systems, or a related CIP-coded field. Your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify, and the 24-month STEM OPT extension gives you up to 36 months total to build experience and transition to long-term sponsorship.

Who We Are
AeroVect is transforming ground handling with autonomy, redefining how airlines and ground service providers around the globe run day-to-day operations. We are a Series A company backed by top-tier venture capital investors in aviation and autonomous driving. Our customers include some of the world’s largest airlines and ground handling providers.
The Deployment & Release Manager is responsible for ensuring that AeroVect’s Autonomous Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) service deployments are safe and reliable, specifically the AV fleet.
This role requires a unique blend of balancing system level overviews and subsystem level details. The candidate will work directly with the Director of Safety, Systems, and Product and the VP of Engineering to develop and own processes that support and empower data-driven development while ensuring safe deployments and scaling.
You Will
- Own and drive the process to evaluate and approve deployments for defined Operational Design Domains (ODDs)
- Ensure that only the system and vehicles that have been verified, validated, and approved are deployed accordingly
- Support the bringup process for new AVs, from receipt to commissioning to first autonomous missions
- Own and drive the release process to evaluate and approve recurring SW updates, including gates, QA, etc.
- Partner with Engineering and Safety & Systems to verify that new software releases meet required criteria through simulation, closed course, shadow mode, and preliminary supervised testing before production rollout
- Schedule and execute software updates to the fleet, ensuring zero downtime during peak operational hours while maintaining 100% readiness for reversion protocols
- Define, document, and maintain the chosen configuration for every vehicle type (e.g., components, firmware versions, system parameters, connectivity settings, etc.)
- Own and drive the change management process and lead the board that reviews all requested changes from the chosen configuration (e.g., swapping a sensor)
- Maintain documentation of all changes with supporting artifacts in compliance with regulator and customer needs
You Have
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or equivalent preferred
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with developing and managing safety-critical autonomous deployments
- Strong understanding of software development, system architecture, and cloud infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage XFN teams to align on a unified process vision and deliver against it
- Ability to articulate technical issues and solutions to all levels of the business, within and beyond the engineering communities
We Prefer
- MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other related technical disciplines
- Experience with fostering a safety culture in the context of aviation / airline or robotics applications
- Familiarity with airport/airline operations and / or the airside driving environment at major global airports
- Experience with safety standards in the development and deployment of complex autonomous systems (including but not limited to ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, IEC 61508, ANSI B56.5, ISO3691, ANSI 15.08)

Verify your CIP code before applying
Check that your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code maps to an ICE-recognized STEM field. Computer science, software engineering, and information systems degrees qualify, but business IT or management information systems degrees from some programs may not. Confirm with your DSO before filing your STEM OPT application.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment during interviews
Ask hiring managers whether the company is actively enrolled in E-Verify, not just registered. Enrollment lapses if a company hasn't hired recently. USCIS requires your employer to be enrolled before your STEM OPT extension start date, so confirm status before accepting an offer.
Tailor your resume to infrastructure and release tooling
Deployment Engineer job postings often screen for specific tools: Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, or ArgoCD. Listing relevant coursework, capstone projects, or internship deployments tied to these tools signals hands-on readiness to hiring managers at E-Verify-enrolled employers.
Search Migrate Mate for E-Verify-enrolled employers
Filter your Deployment Engineer job search on Migrate Mate to surface employers with verified E-Verify enrollment and a history of sponsoring STEM OPT and H-1B visa candidates, so you're not spending time on companies that can't legally hire you under your current authorization.
Align your I-983 training plan to real job duties
Your I-983 must describe how your Deployment Engineer duties connect to your STEM degree's learning objectives. Map specific tasks, such as automating infrastructure provisioning or managing deployment pipelines, to the technical skills your degree program covered. Vague plans draw DSO rejections and USCIS scrutiny.
Time your H-1B registration around your OPT end date
If your STEM OPT expires before October 1 of an H-1B cap year, cap-gap protection extends your work authorization if your employer files a timely H-1B petition. Coordinate with your employer on the March registration window so there's no gap in authorization during the transition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Deployment Engineer role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, if your degree is in a STEM-designated field such as computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or information systems, and your Deployment Engineer duties directly apply that technical knowledge. The role typically involves automating software releases, managing CI/CD pipelines, and maintaining infrastructure, all of which align with STEM degree competencies recognized by ICE and USCIS.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my STEM OPT employer?
Your employer must be actively enrolled in E-Verify before your STEM OPT extension begins. Enrollment is not the same as registration, so ask your HR contact to confirm active status. If the company isn't enrolled, they can register through E-Verify before extending you an offer, but the enrollment must be in place at the time your extension starts, not after.
How should I complete the I-983 training plan for a Deployment Engineer position?
Your I-983 training plan must list specific learning objectives tied to your STEM degree and describe how your Deployment Engineer duties fulfill them. Include concrete tasks such as building deployment pipelines, writing infrastructure-as-code, and managing container orchestration. Both you and your employer's supervisor must sign the form, and your DSO must approve it before USCIS processes the extension.
What happens to my work authorization if my STEM OPT expires while an H-1B petition is pending?
Cap-gap protection automatically extends your work authorization if your employer files a timely H-1B cap-subject petition while your OPT EAD is still valid. Your authorization continues through September 30 of that cap year, or until USCIS makes a decision on the petition, whichever comes first. You can continue working as a Deployment Engineer during this period without interruption.
Where can I find Deployment Engineer jobs at companies that hire STEM OPT students?
Migrate Mate lists Deployment Engineer roles filtered for employers with E-Verify enrollment and a track record of sponsoring STEM OPT and H-1B candidates. Searching there saves time you'd otherwise spend vetting each employer manually. You can also cross-reference the OFLC Wage Search to see what prevailing wages certified employers have filed for comparable roles in your target metro.
