Verify your CIP code before applying
Check that your degree's CIP code maps to an eligible STEM field on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. Health informatics, biostatistics, and health services research degrees qualify; general health administration degrees often don't.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Ask your recruiting contact directly whether the hiring entity, not just the parent company, is enrolled in E-Verify. Healthcare systems with multiple subsidiaries sometimes have inconsistent enrollment across business units.
Target health systems with active LCA filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to identify healthcare organizations that have filed Labor Condition Applications for analyst roles. Employers with recent filings have already navigated OPT and visa sponsorship workflows, which shortens your onboarding process.
Build your I-983 training plan around analytical competencies
Draft your I-983 before your offer letter is finalized so your employer can sign quickly. Map specific job duties, like claims analysis or population health modeling, to your STEM degree's learning objectives to satisfy USCIS training plan requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Healthcare Analyst openings
Search Healthcare Analyst roles on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with confirmed E-Verify enrollment and OPT sponsorship history, so you're not wasting applications on organizations that can't legally hire you.
Clarify reporting structure during the offer stage
USCIS requires your I-983 to identify a direct supervisor who holds a relevant STEM degree or supervises STEM work. Confirm during negotiations that your manager meets this requirement before your training plan is submitted to your DSO.

Find Healthcare Analyst JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Healthcare Analyst role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not the job title. If your degree is in a STEM-designated field such as health informatics, biostatistics, or data science, and the Healthcare Analyst role applies those skills directly, you can apply for the 24-month extension. Your DSO confirms eligibility by matching your degree's CIP code to the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List before endorsing your I-20.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my STEM OPT employer?
Your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify at the specific worksite where you'll be employed. Healthcare organizations with multiple facilities sometimes enroll some locations but not others. Ask HR to confirm E-Verify enrollment for your exact hiring entity before you accept an offer, since USCIS will deny or revoke a STEM OPT extension if the employer isn't enrolled.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for a Healthcare Analyst position?
Your I-983 must describe specific duties, the STEM knowledge those duties apply, measurable learning objectives, and how your employer will evaluate your progress. For a Healthcare Analyst role, this typically means documenting responsibilities like predictive modeling, claims data analysis, or quality metrics reporting, and connecting each to your degree's technical curriculum. Your supervisor must hold relevant STEM credentials or oversee STEM-based work.
How does cap-gap protection apply if I'm a Healthcare Analyst on STEM OPT?
If your employer files an H-1B petition on your behalf before your STEM OPT expires and you're selected in the lottery, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 of that fiscal year. You can continue working as a Healthcare Analyst during this period without interruption. USCIS provides cap-gap coverage under the same EAD category, so no new work authorization document is issued.
Where can I find Healthcare Analyst jobs that sponsor STEM OPT?
Migrate Mate lists Healthcare Analyst openings filtered for employers enrolled in E-Verify and with documented OPT sponsorship activity. You can also cross-reference employer names against OFLC Labor Condition Application disclosure data to confirm they've hired in analyst roles before. Focusing on employers with existing LCA filings for similar positions reduces the risk of offers falling through due to unfamiliarity with STEM OPT requirements.
