STEM OPT HRIS Analyst Jobs
HRIS Analyst roles sit squarely within STEM-designated fields, making them a strong fit for F-1 students on OPT who qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. Your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify to sponsor the extension, and your degree in information systems, computer science, or a related STEM field must align with the role's CIP code.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as a HRIS Analyst
Verify your CIP code before applying
Pull your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code from your DSO and cross-reference it against the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. HRIS Analyst roles commonly align with information systems, computer science, and management information systems codes, but a mismatch can disqualify your extension.
Filter job listings by E-Verify status
Before sending applications, confirm each employer is actively enrolled in E-Verify through the E-Verify employer search portal. Companies that are enrolled but not current on annual memorandum-of-understanding requirements cannot legally file your STEM OPT training plan.
Use Migrate Mate to find HRIS roles at verified sponsors
Search Migrate Mate for HRIS Analyst openings filtered to employers with documented OPT and STEM OPT hiring history. This cuts the research time of manually cross-checking E-Verify enrollment and past DOL Labor Condition Application filings for each company.
Build your I-983 training plan around HRIS competencies
Your I-983 must map specific HRIS tasks, such as system configuration, data governance, or workforce analytics, to your STEM degree learning objectives. Generic job descriptions copied from the posting rarely pass DSO review, so document the technical skills you'll develop in measurable terms.
Ask employers about their OPT-to-H-1B transition timeline
During offer negotiations, clarify whether the company files H-1B petitions in the annual April lottery. HRIS Analyst roles at HR technology vendors and large enterprises with dedicated immigration counsel are more likely to support the full OPT-to-H-1B sequence within your 36-month authorization window.
Check prevailing wage before evaluating offers
HRIS Analyst compensation is tied to DOL prevailing wage levels when your employer eventually files an LCA for H-1B sponsorship. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level I through Level IV wages for your metro area so you can assess whether an offer supports a viable long-term sponsorship path.

Find HRIS Analyst JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does an HRIS Analyst role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
It depends on whether your degree appears on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List and whether the role directly applies that degree's technical knowledge. HRIS Analyst positions grounded in information systems, computer science, or data analytics typically qualify. Your DSO will verify the CIP code match between your degree and the role before approving your I-983 training plan.
How do I confirm my employer is enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT?
E-Verify enrollment is a hard requirement for STEM OPT authorization. You can search the E-Verify employer database by company name or employer identification number to confirm active enrollment before accepting an offer. Enrollment alone isn't enough if the company's memorandum of understanding has lapsed, so ask HR to confirm their current compliance status directly.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for an HRIS Analyst position?
The I-983 requires your employer to document specific HRIS learning objectives tied to your STEM degree, the supervision structure, and how each task develops measurable technical skills. For HRIS Analyst roles, this typically covers system implementation, HR data management, reporting and analytics, and process automation. Your employer signs the plan, your DSO approves it, and USCIS may audit compliance at the six-month and annual evaluation checkpoints.
What happens to my STEM OPT authorization if my H-1B petition is filed but not yet approved?
If your employer files a timely H-1B cap-subject petition before your STEM OPT expires, the cap-gap provision extends your work authorization automatically until October 1 of that fiscal year. Your EAD remains valid and you can continue working as an HRIS Analyst throughout the gap period. USCIS updates cap-gap guidance each year, so confirm the exact extension conditions with your DSO as the filing deadline approaches.
Where can I find HRIS Analyst jobs at employers who sponsor STEM OPT students?
Migrate Mate lists HRIS Analyst openings from employers with verified OPT and STEM OPT hiring history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never navigated the E-Verify and I-983 process. Targeting employers already familiar with STEM OPT requirements reduces the risk of delays caused by HR teams encountering the training plan requirements for the first time.
