Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as an Integration Analyst
Verify your CIP code before applying
Check your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code against the official STEM OPT CIP code list. Computer Science, Information Systems, and Systems Engineering codes typically qualify for Integration Analyst roles, but your DSO confirms eligibility before you file.
Filter employers by E-Verify enrollment status
Before accepting any Integration Analyst offer, confirm the hiring company is actively enrolled in E-Verify, not just registered. Use Migrate Mate to search roles at verified employers so you're not chasing offers that can't legally extend your OPT.
Build your I-983 training plan around integration workflows
Your I-983 must tie learning objectives to specific integration tasks: API design, middleware configuration, data mapping, or ETL pipelines. Generic plans get rejected. Document the technical skills your employer will develop, not just your job title.
Target employers with active systems integration contracts
Companies holding federal or enterprise systems contracts file LCAs regularly and already have compliance infrastructure for E-Verify. Cross-reference DOL's OFLC Wage Search to find employers filing for Integration Analyst or related SOC codes in your target metro.
Negotiate your start date around cap-gap timing
If your OPT expires before October 1 and your employer files an H-1B visa petition on your behalf, cap-gap extends your work authorization automatically. Confirm with USCIS guidance that your offer letter and I-983 reflect continuous employment through the gap period.
Use O*NET to document specialty occupation fit
Integration Analyst maps to SOC 15-1244 under O*NET, which shows the degree requirements and typical tasks adjudicators review. Reference the O*NET occupation profile when your employer drafts the STEM OPT training plan to align documented duties with federal classification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Integration Analyst role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Yes, if your underlying degree carries an eligible STEM CIP code, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field. The role itself must also require applying that STEM knowledge directly. Your DSO reviews your degree CIP code and job offer to confirm eligibility before recommending the extension to USCIS.
How do I confirm my employer is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer?
E-Verify enrollment is a hard requirement for STEM OPT employers, not optional. Ask your recruiter or HR contact for the company's E-Verify Company ID or Employer Identification Number, then cross-reference it through the E-Verify employer search tool. Companies that are registered but not actively enrolled cannot legally sign your I-983 training plan.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for an Integration Analyst position?
Your I-983 must document specific technical learning goals tied to your daily Integration Analyst duties: for example, designing API connections between enterprise platforms, building ETL workflows, or configuring middleware tools. Generic descriptions like 'gain work experience' are insufficient. Both you and your employer supervisor sign the plan, and your DSO reviews it before submission to USCIS.
What happens to my work authorization if my OPT expires while an H-1B petition is pending?
Cap-gap automatically extends your F-1 status and EAD if your employer files a timely H-1B petition before your OPT end date and you're selected in the lottery. Your authorization continues through September 30 of that year, or until USCIS makes a decision on the petition, whichever comes first. Confirm the exact terms with USCIS before your EAD expires.
Where can I find Integration Analyst jobs at employers already set up for STEM OPT?
Migrate Mate lists Integration Analyst openings at employers enrolled in E-Verify, so you can filter for roles that support STEM OPT from the start without manually verifying each company. Focusing your search on employers with existing compliance infrastructure shortens the path from offer to approved training plan significantly.
