Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as a SAP Analyst
Verify your CIP code covers SAP roles
Check your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code against the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List before applying. Degrees in computer science, management information systems, and industrial engineering commonly support SAP Analyst positions, but not every business or IT degree qualifies.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Ask hiring managers directly whether their company is enrolled in E-Verify, or search the E-Verify employer search tool yourself. An offer from a non-enrolled employer disqualifies you from the STEM OPT extension, regardless of how well the role fits your training plan.
Frame your I-983 around SAP module specialization
When drafting your Form I-983 training plan, list specific SAP modules you'll work with, such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP FI, or SAP MM, as concrete learning objectives. Vague descriptions like 'ERP systems experience' weaken the connection between your STEM degree and your day-to-day responsibilities.
Target employers filing LCAs for SAP job titles
Use the OFLC Wage Search to identify companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for SAP Analyst or SAP Consultant roles. Employers who have filed LCAs for these titles have already documented prevailing wages and are structurally set up to hire authorized workers in this occupation.
Search verified STEM OPT employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by SAP Analyst roles on Migrate Mate to find employers already confirmed as E-Verify enrolled. This removes the guesswork of vetting each company individually and lets you focus your applications on employers whose hiring infrastructure supports your STEM OPT authorization.
Align your start date with DSO processing time
STEM OPT applications require DSO approval before USCIS can process the I-765. Submit your I-983 and extension request at least 90 days before your initial OPT end date to avoid a gap between your first 12 months and the start of your 24-month extension.

Find SAP Analyst JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does an SAP Analyst role qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not the job title. The SAP Analyst role itself isn't what USCIS evaluates; your degree's CIP code must appear on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. Degrees in computer science, management information systems, systems engineering, or applied mathematics typically qualify. Confirm your specific CIP code with your DSO before assuming eligibility.
What does the I-983 training plan need to include for an SAP Analyst position?
Your I-983 must describe a structured training program that connects your STEM degree to the work you'll perform. For an SAP Analyst role, that means specifying which SAP modules you'll implement or configure, what analytical or technical skills you'll develop, how your supervisor will evaluate your progress, and measurable learning goals tied to your degree field. Generic job descriptions won't satisfy USCIS requirements.
How do I know if an SAP Analyst employer is enrolled in E-Verify?
You can search the E-Verify employer search tool by company name to confirm enrollment status before you apply or accept an offer. Many large consulting firms and enterprise technology companies are enrolled, but midsize implementation partners and regional employers vary. Always verify directly rather than assuming enrollment based on company size or industry reputation. Migrate Mate surfaces E-Verify-enrolled employers so you can filter SAP Analyst roles by this requirement upfront.
Can I stay on STEM OPT if my SAP Analyst employer is acquired or restructures?
If your employer is acquired, merged, or changes its legal entity, you and your employer must file an updated I-983 with your DSO within five business days of the material change, per USCIS requirements. The new legal entity must also be enrolled in E-Verify. Failing to report the change can jeopardize your STEM OPT authorization even if your day-to-day work is unchanged.
Does the cap-gap rule apply to SAP Analyst roles if my STEM OPT ends before October 1?
Yes. If your employer files an H-1B petition on your behalf and you're selected in the lottery before your STEM OPT expires, the cap-gap provision automatically extends your work authorization and F-1 status through September 30 of that fiscal year. Your SAP Analyst work can continue uninterrupted during cap-gap as long as the H-1B petition remains pending or approved, per USCIS policy.
