Focus on the sectors that drive Pittsburgh hiring: bridge and highway infrastructure, university campus construction in Oakland, and commercial redevelopment in the Strip District and Downtown. Engineering firms and municipal agencies dominate the market, with specialized openings in transportation and industrial work tied to the region's manufacturing base. Candidates with bridge design experience or familiarity with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project requirements stand out locally.
Which companies hire structural engineers in Pittsburgh?

The roles most likely to offer remote flexibility are those focused on analytical modeling, CAD-based design, or structural review work for national consulting firms with a Pittsburgh presence.

The most realistic entry point in Pittsburgh is a junior engineer or EIT role at a mid-size civil or structural consultancy, where you support licensed engineers on active infrastructure and commercial projects.
