Tax Analyst Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax analyst in Minnesota?
Most tax analyst roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the foundation. While no state license is mandatory for the analyst title itself, employers strongly favor candidates who hold or are pursuing a CPA, which in Minnesota is issued through the Minnesota Board of Accountancy. Gaining experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a related finance function, combined with CPA progress, is the most reliable path to landing a role in the state.
Which companies hire tax analysts in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring tax analysts in Minnesota include CJ Schwan’s, Colliers, and Diasorin, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Twin Cities, particularly in retail, healthcare, and manufacturing, makes it one of the stronger markets for in-house corporate tax roles in the region.
Which Minnesota cities have the most tax analyst jobs?
Minneapolis, Hopkins, and Stillwater account for the most tax analyst openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro drives the bulk of demand because it is home to a dense cluster of large corporate headquarters and regional accounting firms, while Rochester's presence is tied largely to Mayo Clinic and its affiliated financial operations, which sustain consistent demand for tax and finance professionals outside the metro.
Are there remote tax analyst jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields. Tax analysis is a desk-based, document-driven role that translates well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 83% of tax analyst openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, reflecting how widely employers in the state have adopted flexible models for finance and accounting teams. Research-heavy work such as state and local tax analysis and compliance review tends to be the most remote-eligible.
How can I get hired as a tax analyst in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a tax associate or staff accountant at a regional public accounting firm in the Twin Cities, where firms like Eide Bailly and CLA regularly bring in new graduates. From there, candidates move into corporate tax roles at Minnesota employers. Adjacent roles in accounts payable, general ledger accounting, or financial analysis at large companies such as Target or Ameriprise Financial also open doors. Sitting for the CPA exam while working in one of these roles gives candidates a measurable edge in the Minnesota market.
Where can I find and apply to tax analyst jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to tax analyst jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
