Tax Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax analyst in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the baseline for a tax analyst role. While no state-issued license is required to work as a tax analyst, earning your CPA through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy significantly improves your competitiveness, especially at large corporate employers. Candidates who pass the CPA exam and gain experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department are consistently preferred over those without credentials.
Which companies hire tax analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring tax analysts in Texas right now include Goldman Sachs, Alvarez & Marsal, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, Fortune 500 headquarters, and large real estate investment trusts means corporate tax departments here tend to be sizeable and hire with regularity.
Which Texas cities have the most tax analyst jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most tax analyst openings in Texas. Houston dominates due to its dense concentration of energy and petrochemical companies with large corporate tax functions, while Dallas draws demand from financial services and retail headquarters, and Austin reflects growth from technology companies expanding their finance and tax teams across central Texas.
Are there remote tax analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 21% of tax analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Tax compliance, research, and provision work are the functions most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis, while roles involving direct collaboration with treasury or legal teams are more likely to require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a tax analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a public accounting internship or entry-level associate role at one of the regional or national firms with Texas offices, such as those operating in Houston or Dallas, where new graduates regularly move into corporate tax analyst positions after one to two busy seasons. Large Texas-based employers like energy companies and financial services firms also hire directly into tax staff roles for candidates who hold a qualifying accounting degree. Sitting for the CPA exam and gaining any exposure to tax software gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge over the competition.
Where can I find and apply to tax analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to tax analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one without needing to create a profile or sign up.
