INTRODUCTION
DMPS is seeking a Teaching and Learning Coordinator with a passion for and experience supporting science learning at all levels.
This position is 260-Day (year-round). Current DMPS educators are able to apply for this position even though it is posted outside of the transfer window.

Required:
- Valid Iowa teaching license with elementary endorsement.
- Five years successful teaching experience.
- Building or district level leadership experience.
- Experience designing and facilitating professional development for small and large groups of adults.
Desired:
- Teacher leadership or administrative experience.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Teaching and Learning Coordinator is a strategic leader responsible for driving the district vision for high-quality curriculum, pedagogy, and instructional practices across all schools. This role ensures the development, management, and implementation of a guaranteed and viable curriculum that meets the needs of every student. Coordinators play a critical role in schools, working directly with principal, instructional coaches and leadership teams to align district priorities with school-level implementation. In addition, this role oversees the professional learning of teachers, associate principals, principals, and instructional leaders to build capacity and ensure effective instructional outcomes. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the teaching and learning department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead all aspects of curriculum support: request for information (RFI), adoption, professional learning, implementation and continuous improvement support for written, enacted, and assessed curriculum.
- Develop and deliver high quality professional learning to teachers, instructional coaches, associate principals and principals that build capacity for effective, research-based instructional practices aligned with the GLEAM framework.
- Lead stakeholders in the design of course pathways aligned to district initiatives, state standards, and student needs.
- Serve as a visible and responsive resource for teachers and leaders, providing high-quality customer service and fostering transparent communication channels.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions and provide timely adjustments to curriculum instructional initiatives.
- Manage program budget and departmental resources to ensure alignment with district priorities and comply with state/federal guidelines.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Analyst, Curriculum Management Specialist, and executive assistants to ensure equitable distribution and management of curriculum materials across schools.
- Remain current in developments in contemporary interpretations of subject matter and teaching methodology.
- Partner with school leaders to implement the district’s strategic instructional vision by being an embedded member of the school instructional leadership team, codeveloping professional learning, conducting regular classroom walkthroughs to provide leadership coaching, and act as a consultant in school improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with Data & Assessment to integrate curriculum initiative with district and state assessment strategies.
- Foster partnerships with local and national organizations aligned to district goals.

Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, bending/stooping, driving, ability to lift 30 pounds and carry 35 feet.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoors the majority of the time.
