Most Iowa colleges post open adjunct positions through their human resources portals, and hiring decisions are made at the department level based on credentials and course needs.

Davenport, Council Bluffs, and Dubuque have the most adjunct faculty openings in Iowa. Des Moines leads because of its concentration of community colleges, private colleges, and professional education programs, while Iowa City and Ames are anchored by the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, both large research institutions with ongoing adjunct demand across many departments.
