Most technical accounting managers in South Dakota hold a CPA license issued or reciprocally recognized by the South Dakota State Board of Accountancy, plus a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Candidates typically build several years in public accounting or a corporate accounting role handling complex GAAP matters before moving into a manager-level position. Employers in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, particularly in banking and healthcare, often look for public accounting experience from a regional or national firm as a strong differentiator.
How much do technical accounting managers make in South Dakota?
Technical accounting managers in South Dakota earn a median of about $78,880 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,190 for the lowest 10% to over $115,470 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical accounting managers in South Dakota?
Employers hiring technical accounting managers in South Dakota right now include BPM, Intuit, and ROI AGENCY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. South Dakota's concentration of large financial institutions and regional healthcare systems in Sioux Falls creates steady, ongoing demand for this role beyond seasonal hiring cycles.
Which South Dakota cities have the most technical accounting manager jobs?
Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Wall have the most technical accounting manager openings in South Dakota. Sioux Falls drives the largest share of demand as the state's financial and healthcare hub, home to major bank operations and Sanford Health, while Rapid City draws on its mix of regional corporate offices and healthcare networks serving western South Dakota.

Yes, and more than many accounting roles, because technical accounting work is largely desk-based and output-driven. About 0% of technical accounting manager openings tied to South Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the analytical nature of the position. Tasks like drafting technical memos, reviewing disclosures, and managing the close calendar are particularly well suited to remote arrangements, though some employers require on-site presence during quarter-end.
