Join TRUMPF's Tooling Solutions team as a Technical Quoting Specialist. You'll be the technical bridge between our customers, sales team, and engineering group—leveraging your sheet metal and tooling expertise to deliver accurate quotes and innovative solutions for punches, dies, press brake tooling, and custom forming applications. This role demands strong technical acumen, excellent communication skills, and a solution-oriented approach to ensure customers receive the optimal tooling for their specific manufacturing needs.
Technical Analysis & Quoting
- Analyze customer specifications, drawings, and CAD files to assess feasibility and design requirements
- Generate detailed, accurate quotes for standard and custom tooling (punches, dies, special forms, press brake tooling)
- Calculate load requirements and verify product specifications to ensure compliance with TRUMPF and customer standards
- Collaborate with engineering and sales teams on design considerations, costing accuracy, and technical feasibility
Customer & Sales Support
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations on tooling selection, materials, coatings, tolerances, and performance
- Assist in troubleshooting tooling applications and address customer concerns related to design or performance
- Serve as a technical resource to internal sales teams and customers; communicate complex specifications clearly
- Support the sales process with timely, accurate technical information that builds customer confidence
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience in sheet metal fabrication, tooling design, or related manufacturing environment
- Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD files, and product specifications
- Sheet Metal & Tooling Knowledge: Strong understanding of punch & die design, forming applications, and press brake tooling; ability to conceptualize designs based on customer requirements
- Load & Specification Calculations: Ability to calculate load requirements and verify tooling specifications
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a solution-oriented, customer-focused approach
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel; SolidWorks and SAP experience strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- Experience with TRUMPF tooling systems or punching/bending machine ecosystems
- Familiarity with CAM software or CNC programming concepts
- Experience in a technical quoting or sales engineering role
