Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Account Director
Frame your credentials around Management Consultant
TN classification for Account Director roles typically falls under Management Consultant. Your resume and offer letter need to connect your client strategy, P&L ownership, and cross-functional leadership directly to consulting-level deliverables, not just sales metrics.
Target agencies with dedicated immigration support
Mid-to-large agencies in advertising, PR, and media are far more familiar with TN paperwork than in-house brand teams. Prioritize employers with HR teams who have processed professional work visas before, since they'll draft a compliant offer letter faster.
Get your offer letter language right before crossing
Canadians present TN documentation directly at the border, so a vague or misclassified offer letter causes immediate problems. The letter must specify the Management Consultant preclassification, your degree field, the client-facing scope of work, and a defined contract period.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready Account Director roles
Search Migrate Mate to identify Account Director openings at employers already familiar with TN sponsorship. Filtering by visa type saves time and surfaces roles where hiring managers won't need a primer on why no H-1B lottery is involved.
Prepare your credential equivalency documentation early
Mexican applicants going through consular processing should have degree equivalency confirmed before their appointment. A Mexican licenciatura in marketing, communications, or business is generally accepted, but a credential evaluation letter removes any ambiguity at the window.
Negotiate TN renewal into your initial employment agreement
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with unlimited renewals. Before signing, confirm your employer will support TN extensions and whether they use outside counsel. Employers who handle renewals in-house often have faster turnaround when your status needs refreshing.

Find Account Director JobsAccount Director TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Director role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Account Director positions qualify under the TN Management Consultant category when the role involves advising clients, developing strategic plans, or managing complex client engagements. Roles that are purely internal sales management without a consulting component can face scrutiny, so the offer letter framing matters significantly. A CBP officer or consular officer will assess the actual duties, not just the job title.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Account Directors compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-year wait. Canadians can obtain TN status same-day at a port of entry with the right documentation. H-1B requires employer sponsorship, a lottery selection, and a wait until October 1 of the fiscal year. For Canadian Account Directors with a qualifying offer, TN is faster and more predictable than H-1B in almost every scenario.
Where can I find Account Director jobs that already support TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Account Director openings filtered by TN visa sponsorship, so you're not cold-applying to employers who've never encountered the process. This matters for Account Director roles specifically because the Management Consultant TN category requires employer cooperation on offer letter language, and some employers are unfamiliar with it.
What happens to my TN status if I switch agencies or clients mid-engagement?
TN status is tied to your specific employer and the role described in your original documentation. If you change employers, you need new TN approval before starting with the new company. A significant internal shift in duties, such as moving from client services to a purely internal operations role, could also raise questions at renewal about whether the Management Consultant classification still applies.
Can a Mexican Account Director candidate get TN status faster than through H-1B?
Yes, though Mexican TN applicants go through consular processing rather than port-of-entry adjudication like Canadians. Mexico does have a TN numerical limit set by USMCA, but demand has historically stayed well below it. Consular appointments can take weeks to schedule, so Mexican candidates should factor that into their timeline when negotiating a start date with an employer.
