INTRODUCTION
The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY)’s primary mission is to keep New York City healthy, safe, and clean. This is accomplished by collecting, recycling, and disposing of waste, cleaning City streets and vacant lots, and removing snow and ice. DSNY is the nation's largest municipal sanitation agency, with nearly 10,000 employees, 59 district garages, and a fleet of more than 5,000 trucks, passenger vehicles, and other operational types of equipment. The Department clears litter, snow, and ice from approximately 6,500 miles of City streets and removes debris from vacant lots as well as abandoned vehicles from City streets.
The Bureau of Legal Affairs (BLA) Contracts Division advises Department staff on procurement issues relating to the provision of services and purchase of equipment, as well as construction contracts relating to DSNY’s facilities. Contract attorneys prepare and negotiate contract documents, as well as review and revise contracts, solicitations, and correspondence prepared by operating bureau contracting staff and the Agency’s Chief Contracting Office (“ACCO”). BLA contract attorneys also provide legal assistance to the ACCO and DSNY’s various bureaus in their dealings with the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services, the City Comptroller, and other oversight entities. BLA contract attorneys also handle all Bid Protests, review Determinations of Non-Responsiveness and Non-Responsibility, and handle all appeals from such findings. Additionally, the BLA Contract Unit manages claims, disputes, and occasional defaults that arise while administering commercial contracts. The duties for the Agency Attorney II position include:

Drafting, reviewing, and advising on procurements (both RFPs and bids) initiated by the Department, including construction contracts, contracts to handle DSNY collected refuse and recyclables, architecture and engineering design procurements, information technology service contracts, emergency contracts, goods purchases, requirements contracts, contracts relating to the administration of the Department’s Health Care Facility, and contracts concerning the testing and repair of the Department’s petroleum storage tanks and other environmental services;
-
Analyzing and preparing legal opinions on contract and procurement issues;
-
Serving as a liaison with the City Law Department and other City oversight offices regarding contract approval and contract litigation issues;
-
Drafting responsiveness and responsibility memoranda and appeals regarding Department contractors;
-
Advising the bureaus regarding contract interpretation, contractor disputes and claims, litigation management, and drafting responses to contractor protests and appeals; and
-
Working on other Bureau work as needed, including on administrative or employment matters.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Agency Sales Manager
Match your credentials to the right TN category
Agency Sales Manager roles qualify under Management Consultant, not Sales Professional. Your degree or documented consulting experience must align with that category specifically, or a CBP officer can deny entry on the spot.
Target employers with recent visa sponsorship experience
Insurance carriers and financial services firms that regularly hire across borders already have HR workflows for visa sponsorship. Prioritize those over companies sponsoring their first international hire, where internal delays are common.
Prepare a duties letter before your first interview
CBP requires a support letter from your employer detailing your consulting and managerial duties in explicit terms. Draft a template early so your prospective employer can adapt it quickly once an offer is made.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsorship-ready employers
Search Agency Sales Manager roles on Migrate Mate to surface employers who have indicated TN visa sponsorship availability, cutting the time you spend filtering out companies without international hiring infrastructure.
Confirm your employer's business entity type before filing
Sole proprietorships and very small agencies sometimes struggle to demonstrate the organizational structure CBP expects for a managerial role. Verify your future employer is a legitimate business entity with documented reporting lines before accepting an offer.
Understand the Mexican TN consular process timeline
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment rather than presenting at the border. Factor in appointment wait times at your nearest U.S. consulate when negotiating your start date with the hiring employer.
Agency Sales Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Agency Sales Manager role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but classification depends on how the role is framed. Agency Sales Managers qualify under the Management Consultant category when the job primarily involves advising on distribution strategy, agency performance, or organizational structure. Roles framed primarily around hitting personal sales quotas are harder to support. Your employer's duties letter must emphasize the consulting and managerial components, not commission-based selling.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning you can start as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B visa requires entering a random lottery in April with an October start date at the earliest. For Agency Sales Manager roles that qualify under Management Consultant, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B for both Canadians and Mexicans.
Where can I find Agency Sales Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Agency Sales Manager roles where employers have indicated TN visa sponsorship availability. This filters out the majority of postings where sponsorship is not on offer, so you spend time on applications that can actually move forward rather than discovering the limitation after an interview.
Can I switch employers after I enter the U.S. on a TN visa for this role?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. If you change employers, you need a new TN approval tied to the new company before you begin work there. Canadian citizens can obtain the new approval at a port of entry the same day. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate. Negotiate your transition timeline accordingly so there is no gap in authorized status.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that identifies your job title as aligned with the Management Consultant USMCA category, describes your specific duties in consulting or managerial terms, states the anticipated duration of employment, and confirms you hold the required credentials. A vague or generic letter is one of the most common reasons CBP officers request additional documentation or deny entry at the border.
