Verify your degree field matches the role
TN approval depends on a direct connection between your degree discipline and the Brand Marketing position. A general business degree supporting a brand strategy role is defensible; a degree in an unrelated field creates a documentation gap you'll need to address before applying.
Build a specialty occupation letter early
Your employer's support letter must explain why the Brand Marketing role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Draft this before you start the offer negotiation so hiring managers understand what they're signing off on.
Target employers with cross-border hiring experience
Companies experienced with visa sponsorship often understand the streamlined support letter process required for TN applicants. Search for brands with Canadian or Mexican headquarters, regional offices, or active USMCA supplier relationships—these employers typically have familiarity with cross-border hiring and may be well-positioned to support qualified candidates through the TN application process.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready brand roles
Migrate Mate filters Brand Marketing jobs by employer visa sponsorship experience, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with work visa processes. Search by role category and apply directly to employers with recent visa filings who have demonstrated experience sponsoring foreign workers.
Prepare for same-day Canadian border decisions
Canadian citizens can present their TN application at a U.S. port of entry and receive a decision the same day. Bring your offer letter, support letter, degree transcripts, and a copy of the job description. Missing any one of these routinely causes denials that delay your start date.
Confirm Mexican processing timelines with your employer
Mexican nationals must go through U.S. consular processing, which adds scheduling lead time that Canadian border applications don't face. Align your start date with your employer after accounting for consulate appointment availability in your city.

Find Brand Marketing JobsBrand Marketing TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brand Marketing qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Brand Marketing isn't listed by name in the USMCA's TN occupation schedule, but roles that require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business typically qualify under categories like Management Consultant or Marketing professional. The key is that your specific job duties and required degree field must align clearly. Your employer's support letter carries most of the weight in establishing this connection.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Brand Marketing professionals?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning you can apply and start work without waiting for a random selection. H-1B requires a lottery entry in March for an October start date, and most applicants don't get selected. For Mexican nationals, TN has a limited annual allocation, but it's still processed faster than H-1B. Both require employer sponsorship and a qualifying specialty occupation determination.
What documents does a Brand Marketing TN applicant need?
You'll need a detailed offer letter from your U.S. employer, a support letter explaining how the role qualifies as a TN specialty occupation, proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship, and your degree transcripts or diplomas. Canadian applicants present these at the port of entry. Mexican applicants submit them as part of the DS-160 consular application. Incomplete document sets are the most common reason for same-day denials at the border.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Brand Marketing jobs with TN sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters Brand Marketing roles by employers that have a history of sponsoring TN visas. That means you can focus your applications on companies already familiar with the process rather than spending time educating recruiters about TN eligibility from scratch.
Can I switch Brand Marketing employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but you can't transfer a TN visa the way H-1B allows portability. Each new employer requires a fresh TN application with its own support letter and job offer documentation. Canadian citizens can process this at the border when they next re-enter the United States. Mexican nationals need to schedule a new consular appointment. Plan your employer transitions with enough lead time to avoid gaps in work authorization.
