Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Brand Designer
Align your portfolio to specialty occupation standards
TN visa approval hinges on proving your Brand Designer role requires a specific bachelor's degree. Frame your portfolio around projects that demonstrate specialized, degree-level visual communications expertise, not general creative work any skilled practitioner could produce.
Target employers with recent visa filing history
Companies that have previously sponsored work visas for design roles already understand visa sponsorship procedures. Prioritizing these employers shortens negotiation time and reduces the risk of an offer falling through due to sponsorship inexperience.
Request a support letter that names your degree field
Your employer's TN support letter must connect your specific bachelor's degree to the Brand Designer duties listed in the offer. A generic letter citing "creative skills" without referencing your credential field is a common reason for CBP delays at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Filtering roles by TN visa eligibility before applying saves weeks of back-and-forth. Migrate Mate surfaces Brand Designer positions at employers already set up to sponsor, so you're not educating hiring managers about the process mid-negotiation.
Prepare for USMCA category classification questions
CBP officers sometimes question which USMCA professional category a Brand Designer falls under. Carry documentation showing your role maps to a recognized category, such as a written job description referencing systems analysis, design engineering, or applied communications technology.
Mexican citizens should book the consular appointment before accepting
Unlike Canadians who can get TN status at a port of entry, Mexican citizens must schedule a U.S. consular interview. Confirm appointment availability in your city before accepting an offer, since wait times vary significantly by consulate location.
Brand Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Brand Designer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Brand Designer positions can qualify under the USMCA when the role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a closely related field. CBP evaluates the job duties, not just the title. Roles that primarily involve production work or don't require degree-level specialized knowledge are more likely to face scrutiny at adjudication.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Brand Designers?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so a qualified Brand Designer can begin work as soon as CBP approves the application, sometimes the same day at a land border. H-1B visa requires surviving a random lottery that selects roughly one in four registrants, then waiting until October 1 to start. For Canadians especially, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Brand Designer jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters Brand Designer roles specifically by TN visa eligibility, so you're applying to employers who have confirmed they'll sponsor rather than discovering late in the process that a company won't. This is particularly useful for Mexican citizens who need to coordinate a consular appointment timeline with an offer and can't afford to restart the search after an employer backs out.
Can a Canadian Brand Designer get TN status at the border without a visa stamp?
Yes. Canadian citizens are exempt from the visa stamp requirement and can present their offer letter, employer support letter, and degree credentials directly to CBP at a port of entry or pre-clearance location. If approved, CBP issues TN status on the spot, typically valid for three years and renewable indefinitely as long as you maintain qualifying employment.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship as a Brand Designer?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that specifies your job title, a description of duties tied to a recognized USMCA professional category, your start date, salary, and confirmation that you hold the required degree. The letter must make clear the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific discipline, not just preferred qualifications. Your degree credential and any credential evaluation for non-U.S. degrees round out the package.
