Align your credentials to USMCA categories
TN status for this role typically falls under Management Consultant. Your degree must be in business administration, industrial engineering, or a directly related field. A management degree paired with operations duties strengthens your case and reduces RFE risk.
Request a detailed support letter early
Your offer letter alone won't satisfy a CBP officer. Ask your employer to draft a separate TN support letter that maps your specific duties to the Management Consultant category and confirms your position is project-based or advisory in nature.
Target employers with multi-site operations
Companies managing distribution centers, manufacturing plants, or regional service networks hire Assistant Operations Managers at volume and are accustomed to TN sponsorship timelines. Filter your search by employers with U.S. and Canadian or Mexican operational footprints.
Clarify the filing route before accepting an offer
Canadian citizens can enter at a port of entry the same day with approved documents. Mexican citizens must schedule a consulate appointment, which adds weeks to the start date. Confirm which route applies and factor that into your agreed start date with the employer.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to surface Assistant Operations Manager roles at employers with recent visa filings. Filtering by visa type upfront helps you identify companies experienced with visa sponsorship and equipped to support your work authorization needs.
Prepare for CBP scrutiny on managerial scope
Officers sometimes question whether an Assistant Operations Manager role is truly consultative rather than supervisory. Bring documentation showing process-improvement responsibilities, not just staff oversight, to demonstrate alignment with the Management Consultant TN category.

Find Assistant Operations Manager JobsAssistant Operations Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Assistant Operations Manager role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
It can, but the job duties determine eligibility, not the title alone. TN status for this role is typically sought under the Management Consultant category, which requires that your work involves providing advisory or analytical services on operational systems and processes. Roles primarily focused on supervising staff rather than improving organizational functions are harder to support under this category.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be approved at the port of entry the same day for Canadian citizens. H-1B requires employer sponsorship months in advance, subjects you to a random lottery, and takes six to twelve months to become effective. For Canadian professionals with a qualifying operations role, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that identifies your job title, describes your specific duties in terms that align with the USMCA Management Consultant definition, states your intended start date and compensation structure, and confirms the temporary nature of the engagement. A vague offer letter without this level of duty-specific detail is the most common reason CBP officers request additional documentation or deny entry.
Where can I find Assistant Operations Manager jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN eligibility. Searching there lets you filter for employers with recent visa filings, so you're not starting conversations with companies that have no experience with visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't surface employer sponsorship history, which makes it harder to identify realistic opportunities.
Can Mexican citizens apply for TN sponsorship for this role the same way Canadians can?
No. Canadian citizens can present their documents at a U.S. port of entry and receive TN status on the spot if approved. Mexican citizens must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and attend an interview before traveling. Consulate appointment wait times vary by location and season, so Mexican applicants should factor several additional weeks into their start date planning.
