Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Certified Medical Dosimetrist
Verify your CMD certification meets CAMPEP standards
TN visa eligibility for dosimetrists requires proof of professional standing. Confirm your CMD credential is current with the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board before applying, as an expired or pending certification will result in a TN denial at the port of entry.
Target radiation oncology departments at academic medical centers
Academic medical centers and NCI-designated cancer centers hire dosimetrists more frequently than community hospitals and are more experienced with TN sponsorship paperwork. Search by institution type, not just job title, to find employers already familiar with the process.
Request a support letter that specifies treatment planning systems
Your employer's TN support letter must describe the role in detail. Ask them to name the specific treatment planning software you'll use, such as Eclipse or RayStation, to tie the position clearly to the Medical/Allied Professional category and reduce officer scrutiny.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for TN-ready dosimetrist openings
Most job boards don't distinguish between employers willing to sponsor TN status and those who aren't. Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Certified Medical Dosimetrist roles with TN sponsorship, so you're not cold-applying to departments that have never navigated the process.
Prepare for Mexican TN consular appointments with translated credentials
Mexican citizens applying at a U.S. consulate must present all professional credentials in English or with certified translations. Schedule your consular appointment only after your CMD certificate, degree transcripts, and employer letter are fully translated and notarized to avoid appointment rescheduling.
Negotiate TN renewal timing into your employment contract
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals. Before you sign an offer, confirm your employer will initiate renewal paperwork at least 90 days before your status expires, since a lapse in status affects your ability to legally continue treating patients.
Certified Medical Dosimetrist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Certified Medical Dosimetrist qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Dosimetrists qualify under the USMCA's Medical/Allied Professional category, provided you hold a valid CMD credential from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board and have a written job offer from a U.S. employer. The role must involve treatment planning and delivery, not administrative or support work. CBP officers will review your credential and offer letter at the port of entry or during consular processing.
How does TN compare to H-1B for dosimetrist roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be approved the same day at a port of entry. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship months in advance, goes through a random lottery with limited odds, and takes six months or longer to become effective. For Canadian dosimetrists especially, TN is a faster and more predictable path to starting work. Mexican citizens face a TN allocation limit but still avoid the H-1B lottery.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter on company letterhead that states your job title, a description of duties specific to dosimetry, your anticipated start date, and confirmation that you'll be employed in a professional capacity. The letter should reference your CMD certification and, ideally, name the treatment planning systems involved. This letter is the core of your TN application and must be accurate, since CBP officers evaluate it closely.
Where can I find Certified Medical Dosimetrist jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can search for Certified Medical Dosimetrist openings and filter by employers already experienced with TN filings, which saves time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a department has never sponsored TN status.
Can a Canadian dosimetrist apply for TN status at the Canadian border?
Yes. Canadian citizens can apply for TN status at a U.S. land border crossing or preclearance airport without scheduling a consular appointment. You'll present your CMD credential, your employer's support letter, and your Canadian passport to a CBP officer who adjudicates the TN on the spot. Approvals typically take under two hours, though some officers may request additional documentation about the specific treatment planning duties involved.
