We are looking for the right people — people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.
About Landmark
Landmark, a Halliburton company, builds the software and data platforms that help the global energy industry make better decisions. Our products span subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, and digital operations. These are tools used daily by engineers and scientists at the world’s largest energy companies. We are investing significantly in our engineering capability, and the Director of Developer Experience leads one of the most important bets in that investment: making every engineer at Landmark dramatically more productive.
About the Role
- Landmark’s engineering organization runs hundreds of engineers across multiple product domains. The way those engineers develop software — from the moment they open their laptop to the moment a release is ready for production — has significant room to improve, and the opportunity to apply what modern tooling and AI-assisted development make possible is real and largely untapped.
- This role exists to lead that work.
- As Director of Developer Experience, you will own the full software delivery lifecycle across three interconnected dimensions: the local loop (the on-machine experience, including environment setup, local build and run performance, and cloud-based development environments), the inner loop (the code-to-pre-production journey, including CI/CD pipelines, branch and merge strategy, quality gates, and the organizational shift to trunk-based development and small, frequent increments), and the outer loop through release management (versioning, release pipeline automation, staging environments, release readiness criteria, and the process that produces a fully validated, deployment-ready artifact). The release-ready artifact is the handoff to SRE, who own the final production readiness check and the decision to push to production.
- Responsibilities is to ensure that what arrives at that handoff is consistently complete, validated, and accompanied by everything SRE needs to make that call with confidence.
- Responsible for leading a substantial team of engineers and developer advocates who build, operate, and consult on the systems and practices that make this possible. You will also own Landmark’s strategy for agentic coding: the adoption of AI coding agents and tools that go beyond autocomplete to meaningfully accelerate how engineers write, review, and reason about code. That means hardware strategy, software procurement, IT policy advocacy, and the organizational change management required to make these tools effective at scale.
What You Will Do
Local Loop and Development Environment
- Own the on-machine development experience for Landmark engineers: environment standardization, toolchain consistency, local build performance, and developer hardware strategy.
- Drive adoption of cloud-based development environments, including remote dev environments, dev containers, and cloud dev boxes, to eliminate environment drift and reduce time-to-productivity for new engineers and new codebases.
- Partner with IT to define and advocate for hardware procurement standards, software licensing policies, and security configurations that enable engineering velocity rather than constrain it.
Inner Loop, Release Management, and SDLC Acceleration
- Own the CI/CD platform and pipeline strategy across Landmark engineering: build speed, test coverage gates, artifact management, and deployment to staging and pre-production environments.
- Drive the organizational shift to trunk-based development and “develop small” practices, including short-lived branches, frequent integration, feature flags, and incremental delivery.
- Define and enforce inner loop quality standards — automated test coverage thresholds, code review practices, PR size norms, and merge readiness criteria — that make shipping fast and safe at the same time.
- Own release management: release pipeline automation, versioning strategy, staging environment management, release readiness criteria, and the process that produces a fully validated, production-ready artifact.
- Define the DX/SRE handoff: the content, format, and quality standard of the release-ready artifact that SRE receives, and partner with SRE continuously to improve the reliability and speed of that interface.
Agentic Coding and AI-Enabled Development
- Define and execute Landmark’s strategy for AI-assisted and agentic coding by identifying, evaluating, procuring, and deploying tools that materially accelerate how engineers work.
- Advocate within Halliburton IT and security for the policies and network and data access configurations that allow modern AI coding tools to operate effectively.
- Build the organizational enablement program: training, consulting support to product teams, measurement of adoption and impact, and feedback loops that improve the strategy over time.
Organization Leadership
- Lead a substantial team of engineers, developer advocates, and platform specialists by hiring, developing, and building the team to meet the demands of this mission.
- Build an embedded consulting and evangelism model where DX team members work alongside product engineering teams to drive adoption of better practices, rather than building tools and waiting for adoption to follow.
- Define and track developer productivity metrics, including DORA metrics, inner loop cycle time, environment setup time, CI pipeline speed, and agentic tool adoption, and drive measurable, sustained improvement.
- Represent developer experience priorities in executive planning, budget discussions, and cross-functional technology decisions.
What You Will Bring
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 12+ years of software engineering or engineering leadership experience, with demonstrated hands-on depth in software delivery practices.
- 5+ years leading engineering organizations, with direct management of Engineering Managers or senior technical leads.
- Deep, practical expertise in CI/CD systems, pipeline architecture, and modern software delivery at scale.
- Demonstrated experience driving organizational change toward trunk-based development, continuous integration, or comparable delivery modernization.
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to translate engineering practice improvements into business outcomes and represent technical needs to the CTO and peer leadership.
- Track record of building and developing engineering talent, including hiring into and growing an existing team.
Preferred
- Direct experience building or leading a developer experience, platform engineering, or engineering productivity team.
- Hands-on experience with remote development environments, such as GitHub Codespaces, Gitpod, Daytona, DevPod, or cloud dev boxes, at organizational scale.
- Experience evaluating, procuring, and deploying AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cody, or agentic coding platforms, and driving their adoption across an engineering organization.
- Familiarity with DORA metrics and engineering productivity measurement frameworks, and a track record of moving them in the right direction.
- Experience working with enterprise IT and security functions to influence tooling policies, procurement processes, and access configurations on behalf of engineering velocity.
- Background in or strong familiarity with software delivery in large-scale enterprise software environments where product complexity and compliance requirements create friction.
- Experience designing and operating an engineering consulting or enablement model where teams influence adoption through embedded partnership rather than mandate.
- We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if your experience does not match every item in the preferred list.
Why Landmark
- This role exists because Landmark’s CTO has made developer experience a top organizational priority. You will have direct sponsorship, a real team, real budget, and the authority to make meaningful changes. The engineering organization wants this to succeed: the demand for better tooling, faster pipelines, and AI-enabled development comes from engineers themselves, and the leadership team is aligned behind it.
- We build small, high-ownership teams and invest in the quality of every person on them. Engineers here co-author the product strategy alongside product management and domain science: the art of the possible is an engineering contribution, not a function that sits upstream. The experiences we design ensure that customers remain in control of the decisions that matter, never passengers in their own workflows.
- You will work in a business where software is the product, alongside engineers solving technically demanding problems in a domain where your improvements have visible, measurable impact on their daily work. We offer competitive compensation including bonus and long-term incentive programs, and the scope to build something that lasts.
Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Developer Experience
Map your credentials to qualifying TN categories
Developer Experience roles don't have a single TN category. A degree in computer science maps to Computer Systems Analyst; an engineering degree maps to Engineer. Confirm your credential matches the job title before applying.
Target companies with active platform engineering teams
Employers building internal developer portals, CI/CD pipelines, or SDK ecosystems file more TN petitions for DevEx roles. Filter your search to companies with dedicated platform or developer productivity teams.
Request an offer letter that names your TN category explicitly
CBP officers decide TN eligibility at the port of entry. An offer letter that states 'Computer Systems Analyst' or 'Engineer' and connects your role to those duties removes ambiguity and speeds the border decision.
Prepare credential equivalency documentation for Mexican citizens
Mexican TN applicants submit their petition to USCIS, not CBP. Include your degree equivalency evaluation alongside your employer's support letter. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation credentials more closely than Canadian border crossings.
Use Migrate Mate to find Developer Experience jobs with TN sponsorship
Most job boards don't filter by visa type or sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces Developer Experience roles at employers actively sponsoring TN visas, so you skip the cold outreach and talk to teams already set up to file.
Confirm your employer doesn't require E-Verify enrollment separately
TN status doesn't require E-Verify, but federal contractors must enroll. If your offer comes from a government contractor, ask HR whether E-Verify is already active before your start date to avoid I-9 delays.

Find Developer Experience JobsDeveloper Experience TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Developer Experience role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, if your job duties and degree align with an approved TN category. Developer Experience roles typically qualify under Computer Systems Analyst, where a computer science or related degree is required, or under Engineer, if your role involves systems architecture or infrastructure. The job title alone isn't what CBP or USCIS evaluates; the actual duties and your credential match determine eligibility.
How does TN visa compare to H-1B for Developer Experience professionals?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no employer sponsorship wait tied to a fiscal year cycle. H-1B requires winning a random selection before USCIS even reviews the petition. For Developer Experience roles, which map cleanly to Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer categories, TN is a faster and more predictable path. The trade-off is that TN doesn't carry dual intent, so green card planning requires separate strategy.
Can I search for Developer Experience TN jobs without cold emailing every employer?
Yes. Migrate Mate filters Developer Experience roles by employers with recent visa filings, so you're applying to teams that are experienced with sponsoring work visas. That removes the conversation about whether sponsorship is possible and puts the focus on whether you're the right candidate for the role.
How long does TN approval take for a Developer Experience role?
Canadian citizens get same-day decisions at the port of entry, typically at a pre-clearance border crossing or U.S. airport. Mexican citizens apply through USCIS and typically wait several months for a decision. Neither path involves a lottery wait. If your start date is firm, Canadian applicants can cross the border the morning they're due to begin work.
What happens to my TN status if my Developer Experience role changes within the same company?
If your core duties shift materially, such as moving from developer advocacy into pure product management, you may need a new TN filing to reflect the updated role. Minor scope changes within the same TN category generally don't require a new petition, but your employer should document the change. A role reclassification that no longer fits Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer would require a fresh filing before you perform the new duties.
