Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Event Planner
Frame your role as management consulting
TN visa status for Event Planners depends on positioning your duties as advisory and project-based, not operational. Tailor your resume and job offer letter to emphasize strategic planning, vendor management, and client consultation rather than day-to-day logistics execution.
Gather degree credentials before targeting employers
CBP officers at the port of entry assess your qualifications on the spot. Have your degree transcripts, diplomas, and any professional certifications ready before applying. A mismatch between your credentials and the offered role is the most common TN denial reason.
Target employers with dedicated HR or legal teams
Mid-size and large event agencies, hospitality groups, and corporate conference departments are practiced at writing TN-compliant offer letters. Smaller boutique firms often lack the HR infrastructure to draft the specific duties language CBP requires.
Request an offer letter that mirrors TN requirements
Your employer's offer letter must specify your job title, duration, intended duties, and that the role requires your professional expertise. Vague letters referencing only seniority or years of experience without linking duties to your degree field get flagged at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to identify TN-ready employers
Searching for Event Planner roles with genuine TN sponsorship experience is faster when you filter by employers who have filed TN petitions before. Migrate Mate surfaces these employers so you spend less time chasing companies unfamiliar with the process.
Plan Mexican TN filings around annual cap availability
Mexican nationals apply through USCIS, not at the border, and the annual TN allocation is finite. File early in the fiscal year and track USCIS processing times so an approved petition is in hand before your intended start date.
Event Planner TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Event Planner qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Event Planner is not listed by name in the USMCA TN schedule, but CBP consistently approves these roles under the management consultant category when the position is genuinely advisory and project-driven. Your offer letter must describe duties that reflect strategic planning and client consultation, not routine operational tasks. Officers evaluate the substance of the role, not the job title alone.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Event Planner roles?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start the process as soon as you have a job offer. H-1B visa requires registration in March, a random selection, and a months-long wait before October 1. For an Event Planner who has a firm offer and qualifies under the management consultant category, TN gets you working far sooner and without the uncertainty of the lottery.
What documents do I need to cross the border as a Canadian Event Planner?
You bring your valid Canadian passport, the employer's TN offer letter, your degree transcripts or diploma, and any professional certifications relevant to the role. CBP adjudicates your application on the spot at a port of entry, so every document must be organized and immediately accessible. Incomplete packages are the most common reason for same-day delays or denials.
Where can I find Event Planner jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by employer visa experience, which means you spend time applying to companies unfamiliar with work visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN and other work visa job searches, letting you find Event Planner roles with employers who have recent visa filings and understand the sponsorship process. These employers can craft the support letter you'll need to present at the U.S. port of entry or consulate.
Can a Mexican Event Planner get TN status, and how does the process differ?
Yes, Mexican nationals qualify for TN status, but the process differs from the Canadian pathway. Mexican applicants must file a petition with USCIS rather than applying directly at the border, and the annual TN allocation for Mexican citizens is capped. Filing early in the fiscal year reduces the risk of hitting the cap mid-year and gives you buffer time if USCIS issues a request for evidence.
