Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Fuel Truck Driver
Obtain a valid commercial driver's license
A U.S.-equivalent CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements is what sponsoring employers require. Confirm your Canadian or Mexican commercial license maps to the correct U.S. CDL class before applying, since CBP officers will verify your driving credentials at the port of entry.
Target carriers with cross-border fuel operations
Fuel distribution companies that already move product between Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. have internal processes for TN visa filings. Focusing your search on these carriers shortens the sponsorship conversation because their HR teams have handled USMCA hires before.
Search TN-specific job listings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by TN visa eligibility, so you're only seeing Fuel Truck Driver roles from employers open to sponsorship. That cuts out the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that don't understand TN status.
Confirm your employer letter covers USMCA language
Your offer letter must state your job title, duties, TN classification, and intended work period. CBP officers at land border crossings for Canadian applicants and USCIS for Mexican applicants need this wording to be explicit, not implied, or your entry can be delayed.
Request that your employer file Form I-129 early
Mexican citizens must go through USCIS consular processing rather than the land border option available to Canadians. Ask your employer to submit Form I-129 well before your intended start date, since USCIS standard processing adds weeks to your timeline.
Clarify DOT medical certification requirements upfront
Fuel Truck Drivers must hold a current medical examiner's certificate required by DOT regulations. Confirm with your employer whether they need you to complete a U.S. DOT physical before your first day, since this affects your onboarding timeline regardless of TN status.
Fuel Truck Driver TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Fuel Truck Driver role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Fuel Truck Driver is not a named occupation on the USMCA TN list, so employers typically sponsor these roles under the Transportation Worker or a related technical category depending on the specific duties involved. The classification depends on whether the role involves specialized cross-border fuel logistics versus standard local delivery. Confirm the correct TN category with your employer before applying.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for a Fuel Truck Driver?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning your employer can sponsor you any time of year and you can start work as soon as your status is approved. H-1B visa requires entering a lottery with roughly 25 percent selection odds, capped at 85,000 slots annually. For a trades-oriented role like Fuel Truck Driver, TN is the more practical path if you're Canadian or Mexican.
Where can I find Fuel Truck Driver jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Fuel Truck Driver listings from employers who are open to TN visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with USMCA hiring. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, which means most results won't lead to a sponsorship conversation.
Can I enter the U.S. at a land border crossing for TN status as a Fuel Truck Driver?
Canadian citizens can present their TN documentation directly to a CBP officer at any U.S. land border port of entry and receive TN status on the spot if approved. Mexican citizens cannot use this route and must obtain a TN visa stamp through a U.S. consulate in Mexico before traveling. The process and timeline differ significantly between the two nationalities.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to provide a signed offer letter that includes your job title, a description of your duties, your TN classification, the intended duration of employment, and confirmation that you meet any professional or licensing requirements for the role. For Mexican citizens, the employer also files Form I-129 with USCIS. CBP reviews the letter directly for Canadians at the border.
