- Evaluate bills of material for completeness and accuracy; flag gaps, long-lead items, and coordination concerns (power, controls, structural, seismic, space/clearances).
- Assist with contract review from a procurement perspective (commercial terms, freight, taxes, escalation, liquidated damages, warranty, service/startup).
- Gather and prepare submittal packages (equipment schedules, cut sheets, performance data, controls narratives) and track reviews/returns to keep the buyout schedule on track.
- Create purchase requisitions / product lists and support purchase order and change order preparation with clear scope and quantities.
- Track orders and logistics (lead times, releases, fabrication, shipping, storage); coordinate with the project team on site constraints and delivery windows.
- Maintain procurement documentation (quote logs, bid tabs, vendor correspondence) and support closeout deliverables as assigned (warranties, O&M manuals, spare parts).
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction and HVAC systems/equipment; able to read plans/specs and speak the language of engineers, contractors, and OEMs.
- 5+ years of procurement experience preferred; or equivalent combination of mechanical/HVAC field, estimating, or project support experience with demonstrated procurement capability.
- Experience with estimating/takeoffs, bid leveling, and vendor communication; detail-oriented with strong follow-through.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Procurement
Align your credentials to Management Consultant
TN visas have no dedicated Procurement category, so your application must map to Management Consultant. Gather documentation showing your degree in business, supply chain, or a related field and connect it directly to your specific procurement duties.
Target employers with recent visa filing history
Search for companies with recent visa filings in procurement and management roles. These employers already have experience with visa sponsorship generally, making them more comfortable with the sponsorship process and less likely to hesitate when a qualified candidate needs work authorization support.
Get your offer letter drafted precisely
The single biggest TN denial trigger for Procurement professionals is a vague job description. Your employer's offer letter must specify consulting-style duties like spend analysis, vendor evaluation, and process optimization rather than operational or administrative tasks.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies actively hiring Procurement professionals with TN visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers already familiar with the process, cutting down the time you spend educating hiring teams from scratch.
Prepare for CBP scrutiny on consultant classification
Canadian citizens applying at a port of entry should expect detailed questions about how their procurement role qualifies as management consulting. Bring your degree transcripts, a clear organization chart showing your advisory function, and a copy of your offer letter.
Negotiate who bears the filing timeline risk
Mexicans requiring consular processing face longer lead times than Canadians who can obtain TN status at the border. Before accepting an offer, confirm your start date gives enough runway for consulate appointment scheduling and document preparation.
Procurement TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Procurement qualify as a TN visa occupation?
There is no standalone Procurement category in the USMCA TN occupation list. Most procurement professionals qualify by fitting their role under Management Consultant. That requires demonstrating your work involves advising on organizational strategy, spend optimization, or vendor management rather than executing routine purchasing tasks. Your offer letter and credentials need to make that case explicitly.
How does TN visa compare to H-1B for Procurement roles?
TN has significant practical advantages for Procurement professionals. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and you can obtain TN status at a U.S. port of entry the same day if you are Canadian. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate. For Mexicans, TN requires consular processing but still avoids the H-1B lottery entirely.
Where can I find Procurement jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN visa roles. You can search for Procurement and supply chain positions where employers are already familiar with TN sponsorship requirements, which removes the common friction of explaining the visa to hiring teams who have never encountered it.
Can I switch Procurement employers on a TN visa?
Yes, but TN status does not transfer automatically. When you change employers, your new company must either sponsor a new TN petition through USCIS or, if you are Canadian, you can apply for a new TN at a port of entry with a fresh offer letter. You cannot begin work for the new employer until the new TN authorization is in place.
What documents does a Procurement professional need for a TN application?
You need a detailed offer letter specifying your management consulting duties, proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship, and educational credentials showing a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, supply chain management, or economics. If your degree is from outside North America, a credential evaluation from a recognized evaluator strengthens your application and reduces the risk of a CBP officer questioning the equivalency.
