Align your degree to the role
TN visa classification for Logistics Coordinators typically requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or industrial engineering. A mismatch between your transcript and the offered job duties is the most common reason for TN refusals at the border.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Search employer visa filing records to identify companies experienced with work visa sponsorship for logistics roles. A history of recent visa filings signals a company already understands visa sponsorship processes and won't need to be educated on supporting foreign workers.
Request a TN support letter before your first day
Your offer letter alone won't get you TN status. Ask your employer for a formal support letter describing your role, the USMCA professional category, your credentials, and your intended duration of employment before you book any travel to the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to filter Logistics Coordinator openings by employers with recent visa filings. This saves you from cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with sponsoring foreign nationals. Employers experienced with visa sponsorship are more likely to understand the TN process and support your application at the port of entry or consulate.
Clarify your role's specialty occupation standing
CBP officers have discretion over TN admissions. If your Logistics Coordinator duties include general coordination without a specialized degree requirement, prepare documentation showing how the role demands theoretical and practical application of a specialized body of knowledge.
Plan your Mexican TN consular appointment early
Mexican nationals can't use the Canadian border port-of-entry shortcut. You'll need a consular TN visa appointment, and wait times at U.S. embassies in Mexico vary significantly by city and season, so build extra lead time into your start date negotiation with your employer.
Logistics Coordinator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Logistics Coordinator role qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is structured. Logistics Coordinator positions qualify when they require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as supply chain management, logistics, or industrial engineering, and the day-to-day duties reflect specialized professional work. Roles framed around general coordination or clerical oversight are more likely to face scrutiny from CBP officers at the border.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Logistics Coordinators compare to H-1B?
TN is significantly more practical for this role. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadian applicants can get TN status at a port of entry on the same day. H-1B visa requires an April lottery registration, months of waiting, and an October start date at the earliest. For a Logistics Coordinator who has a job offer in hand, TN is the faster and more predictable path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter that specifies your job title, a description of your duties, the USMCA professional category the role falls under, your anticipated length of employment, and your educational qualifications. For Mexican nationals, you'll apply at a U.S. consulate with this support letter and your documentation. Canadian nationals present all documents directly to CBP at the border or port of entry.
Where can I find Logistics Coordinator jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters openings by sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time applying to employers who have never gone through the process. General job searches rarely surface TN sponsorship details upfront, which means you often find out late in the process that a company can't or won't support your visa.
Can I switch Logistics Coordinator employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you can't start working for the new employer under your existing TN. Canadian citizens can apply for a new TN at a port of entry with the new employer's support letter before making the switch. Mexican nationals need a new consular visa appointment. There's no portability provision like the one that exists for H-1B holders, so timing your transition carefully with both employers matters.
