Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Production Lead
Match your credentials to the right TN category
Production Lead roles must fit the Industrial Engineer category under USMCA. Gather your engineering degree and any professional credentials before outreach so you can confirm the fit before applying to specific roles.
Target manufacturers with cross-border hiring history
Automotive, aerospace, and food processing companies regularly hire Canadian and Mexican production professionals. Focus on operations with facilities near the U.S.-Canada or U.S.-Mexico border, where cross-border TN hiring is already embedded in HR processes.
Request a support letter before your border crossing
Canadians can obtain TN status directly at a port of entry, but you need the employer's support letter in hand. Confirm the letter specifically lists your job title, wage, and duration before you travel.
Clarify supervisor versus individual contributor scope in your offer
CBP officers scrutinize Production Lead roles that blur the line between supervisory and trade-level work. Your offer letter and support documentation should clearly describe engineering or technical oversight duties, not manual production tasks.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers actively sponsoring TN visas
Search Production Lead openings on Migrate Mate to filter for employers with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring work visas. Targeting companies already familiar with visa sponsorship processes shortens the negotiation stage and reduces the risk of a rescinded offer.
Renew before your TN period expires to avoid status gaps
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with unlimited renewals. File or re-enter for renewal well before your current period ends. A lapse in status can interrupt payroll and trigger E-Verify compliance issues for your employer.

Find Production Lead JobsProduction Lead TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Production Lead role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is structured. Production Lead positions qualify under the TN Industrial Engineer category when duties involve engineering analysis, production planning, or technical process optimization. Roles primarily focused on supervising line workers without an engineering component are harder to support. Your employer's offer letter needs to frame responsibilities in technical, not supervisory-trade, language to hold up at the port of entry or consulate.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Production Lead compare to H-1B?
TN is faster and more predictable for this role. There's no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and Canadians can get status approved at the border the same day. H-1B requires an April lottery, a multi-month USCIS adjudication, and an October 1 start date at the earliest. For a Production Lead role with a confirmed offer, TN gets you working months sooner and avoids the uncertainty of not being selected in the H-1B draw.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship for a Production Lead job?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican citizens apply for TN status at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border, and Mexico's allocation under USMCA is capped annually. Processing takes longer than a Canadian border crossing, so plan for consular appointment wait times. Your employer still provides a support letter, and the role must meet the same Industrial Engineer category requirements.
Where can I find Production Lead jobs that include TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter Production Lead openings by TN visa sponsorship and see which employers have an active history of supporting cross-border hires. That matters because many production roles are posted broadly but the hiring team has no experience with TN paperwork, which creates delays and dropped offers late in the process.
What happens to my TN status if I'm promoted from Production Lead to a different title?
A title or role change that moves you outside the Industrial Engineer category requires a new TN petition or a fresh border crossing with updated documentation reflecting the new position. You can't continue working under your current TN if the duties change materially. Notify your employer's HR team before accepting the promotion so they can prepare the updated support letter and file before your role officially changes.
