Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Real Estate Attorney
Verify your bar admission matches TN requirements
TN classification for lawyers requires a law degree and a license to practice. Confirm your provincial or national bar credentials are in good standing before targeting employers, since CBP officers evaluate both at entry.
Target firms with active cross-border transaction practices
Real estate firms handling U.S.-Canada or U.S.-Mexico commercial deals already understand cross-border legal work. These employers are far more likely to sponsor TN status than domestic residential-only practices unfamiliar with USMCA classifications.
Get your credential documents ready before offers arrive
Assemble your law degree, bar admission certificate, and a support letter from your prospective employer before you start interviewing. Canadian applicants present these directly at the port of entry, so delays in gathering documents can delay your start date.
Find TN-ready employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter real estate attorney roles by TN visa sponsorship. It surfaces employers already familiar with the USMCA process, so you spend less time educating hiring teams and more time moving through offer and filing stages.
Coach your employer on the support letter format
Many real estate firms have never sponsored a TN visa. The support letter must describe your specific attorney duties, your Canadian or Mexican citizenship, and the temporary nature of the role. A letter that omits any of these elements can cause a CBP denial at the border.
Understand how Mexican applicants use consular processing
Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border, and a limited annual TN allocation applies. Book your consular appointment early in the hiring process so your start date aligns with your employer's timeline and the allocation is not exhausted.

Find Real Estate Attorney JobsReal Estate Attorney TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a real estate attorney role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Real estate attorneys qualify under the Lawyer category in USMCA's TN professional list. You must hold a law degree from an accredited institution and a license to practice law in your home country or a U.S. jurisdiction. General counsel, transactional attorney, and real estate closing attorney titles all typically fall within this category, provided the duties are legal in nature.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for real estate attorneys?
TN is almost always the faster path for Canadian and Mexican real estate attorneys. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS adjudication wait. Canadian applicants can be admitted at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires winning a lottery that selects roughly one in four registrants, followed by a months-long petition process before you can start work.
How can I find real estate attorney jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters roles by TN visa sponsorship and surfaces employers who already understand the USMCA process, which saves you from explaining the visa category to every recruiter you speak with. Searching through Migrate Mate lets you focus on firms that are ready to move forward without delays caused by unfamiliarity with TN status.
What documents does a real estate attorney need for TN admission?
You need your law degree, proof of bar admission or licensure, a support letter from your prospective employer describing your duties and the temporary nature of the position, and a valid Canadian or Mexican passport. For Canadians, these are presented directly at the port of entry. Mexican nationals submit the same documents at a U.S. consulate during their visa interview.
Can a real estate attorney on TN status change employers mid-status?
Yes, but you cannot simply carry your current TN authorization to a new firm. Canadian attorneys typically obtain a new TN at the border with documents from the new employer before starting. Mexican nationals apply for a new TN visa at the consulate. You cannot begin work for the new employer until the new TN status or visa is granted, so time your transition carefully.
