Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior IT Architect
Translate your credentials into U.S. equivalency
Canadian and Mexican degrees are evaluated against U.S. bachelor's degree standards for TN purposes. Have a credential evaluation completed before applying so your employer can reference it in your support letter and you can present it at the port of entry without delays.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Architects at the senior level are often hired by employers experienced with visa sponsorship for technical roles. Targeting companies with recent visa filings in IT architecture positions increases your chances of finding roles that may qualify for TN status, as these employers have demonstrated familiarity with the visa sponsorship process.
Clarify the Systems Analyst classification upfront
TN petitions for IT Architects route through the Systems Analyst USMCA category. Confirm with your prospective employer that the job description emphasizes systems design and integration, not purely management, before you apply at the port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate (for Mexicans). Your employer will prepare a support letter outlining the role's technical scope to strengthen your TN application.
Use Migrate Mate to find roles built for TN sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to find Senior IT Architect positions at employers already set up to sponsor TN visas. The platform surfaces roles by visa type so you're not cold-pitching companies that have never navigated a TN filing.
Prepare your documentation packet before the offer
Canadians can present their TN application directly at a U.S. port of entry without a pre-approved petition. Have your offer letter, degree transcripts, and a role description letter from your employer ready before you finalize your start date.
Negotiate employer-side filing responsibility explicitly
For Mexican nationals, the TN process requires a consular appointment and an approved I-129 petition from the employer. Confirm during offer negotiation that your employer will manage the USCIS I-129 filing and cover associated government fees.

Find Senior IT Architect JobsSenior IT Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior IT Architect role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, Senior IT Architect positions qualify under the USMCA's Systems Analyst category when the role centers on designing, evaluating, or implementing complex IT systems. The job description must reflect systems-level responsibilities tied to a qualifying degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering. Generic management titles without technical design duties can create problems at adjudication.
How does TN visa sponsorship for this role compare to H-1B?
TN sponsorship for Senior IT Architects is faster and more predictable than H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can receive TN status at a port of entry the same day. H-1B requires a lottery selection, a cap-subject petition, and a minimum six-month wait before the October 1 fiscal year start date.
Where can I find Senior IT Architect jobs that already offer TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter roles by TN visa sponsorship so you're only seeing employers who have already structured their hiring process to support USMCA-based professionals. That cuts out the back-and-forth with recruiters who aren't familiar with TN filings for technical roles.
What documentation does my employer need to support a TN filing for this role?
Your employer needs to provide a detailed support letter that describes the position's duties, confirms the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field, and states your qualifications. For Canadian nationals applying at the border, this letter functions as the primary petition document alongside your degree transcripts and proof of citizenship.
Can I switch employers as a Senior IT Architect on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. You can't work for a new employer until the new TN is approved or, for Canadians, granted at the port of entry. Mexican nationals need a new I-129 approved by USCIS before starting with the new employer. Plan your transition timeline around the filing process to avoid a gap in authorized status.
