TN Visa Urologist Jobs
Urologist roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA as a physician specialty, letting Canadian and Mexican professionals work in the U.S. without a lottery or cap. For Canadians, your employer provides a support letter you present at the U.S. border; for Mexicans, your employer submits documentation to support your consular application, making the path to U.S. practice more direct than most visa routes.

Verify your credentials match TN requirements
TN classification for physicians requires a valid license to practice medicine in your home country. Confirm your Canadian or Mexican medical license is current and obtain an English translation if issued in French or Spanish before approaching employers.
Target academic medical centers and health systems
Large hospital networks and university-affiliated urology departments have experience with visa sponsorship and established international physician hiring pipelines. Solo practices rarely have this infrastructure, so prioritize institutions with demonstrated experience sponsoring work visas for medical professionals.
Clarify your U.S. board certification timeline with employers
Some employers require USMLE passage and U.S. residency completion before extending a TN-sponsored offer. Negotiate the offer start date around your board certification status so your employment documentation reflects your actual intended start date.
Search for TN-sponsoring urology employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces urology roles at employers with recent visa filings, so you're not cold-applying to practices unfamiliar with work visa sponsorship. Filter by specialty to find positions at organizations experienced with visa processes for Canadian and Mexican physicians.
Prepare for Canadian border TN admission with complete documentation
Canadians can obtain TN status at a port of entry without a consular appointment. Bring your signed employment offer letter, medical degree, home-country license, and an employer support letter outlining the role and your qualifications. CBP officers expect all documents at the inspection booth.
Align your TN petition with your actual practice start date
Your employer prepares a support letter specifying your intended start date and worksite. If your hospital credentialing process delays your first clinical day, ensure the letter details match your actual arrival timeline—CBP at the port of entry (for Canadians) or the U.S. consulate (for Mexicans) will review these details during your TN admission or extension request.

Find Urologist JobsUrologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a urologist role qualify for TN visa sponsorship under USMCA?
Yes. Urology qualifies under the physician category in the USMCA TN professional list. Your employer will provide a support letter confirming your role and qualifications. If you're Canadian, you'll present this letter at the U.S. border or port of entry; if Mexican, you'll apply at a U.S. consulate. You'll also need a valid medical degree and a home-country license to practice medicine.
How does TN compare to H-1B for urologists?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadians, while H-1B selection runs at roughly 25 percent for most applicants. TN is also renewable indefinitely in three-year increments. The trade-off is that TN does not confer dual intent, so pursuing a green card while on TN requires careful planning with an immigration attorney.
Can Mexican urologists get TN sponsorship the same way Canadians can?
Mexican nationals follow a different process. You must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at a port of entry. The professional category requirements are identical, but consular appointment availability and processing times add steps that Canadian applicants skip when using border crossing admission.
Where can I find urology jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists urology positions at employers with recent visa filings, so you spend less time filtering out practices that have never handled international physician hiring. Searching by specialty narrows results to roles where the employer already understands work visa sponsorship and physician credentialing timelines.
What happens if my hospital credentialing delays my TN start date?
If your clinical privileges are not granted by your intended start date, your employer should update your TN support documentation reflecting the corrected date before you present it at the port of entry or consulate. Starting work before credentialing is complete can also violate state medical board rules, so coordinate your start date with your department administrator and legal counsel to ensure all licensing and privileges are finalized before beginning employment.
