How do you become a training and development specialist in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in human resources, education, organizational development, or a related field as the foundation for this role. There is no state-issued license required to work as a training and development specialist in Texas. Candidates strengthen their profile by earning credentials through the Association for Talent Development, such as the Certified Professional in Talent Development, and by building hands-on experience designing and facilitating adult learning programs in corporate or institutional environments.
How much do training and development specialists make in Texas?
Training and development specialists in Texas earn a median of about $62,860 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $33,250 for the lowest 10% to over $113,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire training and development specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring training and development specialists in Texas right now include CEVA Logistics, First United Bank, and Fulgent Therapeutics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, large hospital systems, financial services firms, and technology employers means consistent demand for professionals who can build and scale internal learning programs.
Which Texas cities have the most training and development specialist jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Coppell have the most training and development specialist openings in Texas. Houston drives volume through its energy sector headquarters and large healthcare systems, Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from corporate headquarters in finance, retail, and logistics, and Austin's fast-growing technology and government sectors generate steady openings for learning and development professionals.
Are there remote training and development specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many roles, since curriculum design and e-learning development translate well to remote work. About 29% of training and development specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible delivery for this function. Roles focused on live facilitation or onboarding new hires tend to stay in-person, while instructional design and LMS administration positions are the most consistently offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a training and development specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a role that already involves teaching, coaching, or process documentation, such as a team lead, subject matter expert, or HR coordinator position. Large Texas employers including major hospital networks and energy companies hire instructional design assistants and training coordinators as entry points. Building a portfolio of sample course materials or a completed e-learning module using tools like Articulate Storyline demonstrates practical ability and gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate beyond a resume.
