LERMA/ is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Associate Director, Media Strategy to own a portfolio of client accounts and lead the strategists and supervisors who run them day-to-day. This role sits between Senior Strategist/Supervisor and Director of Media Strategy, serving as a strategic lead for a pod of accounts and the person who develops the team executing within them. This role is ideal for a high performer ready to grow from hands-on account ownership to portfolio-level strategy, people management, and client relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own portfolio-level media strategy across a pod of accounts and maintain strong relationships with agency leadership and key clients
- Serve as a client contact on enterprise-scale accounts, including ownership of strategy, reporting, and other client-facing deliverables
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Strategists and Supervisors — set priorities, QA their strategic recommendations, and own their career pathing
- Own budget rollups and spend oversight across the full portfolio, approving incremental investment and testing proposals ahead of Director sign-off
- Partner with media leadership on RFP development, new business pitches, and cross-channel integration
- Guide audience definition and sizing in partnership with brand strategy leads, ensuring consistency across all internal briefs
- Maintain oversight of the media investment/execution team’s briefing process, ensuring strategy is clearly translated into plans
- Contribute to agency POV development and maintain a sharp, current read on the media landscape
- Support hiring, onboarding, and staffing plans for the Media Strategy team
- Partner cross-functionally with paid media investment and account service on integrated account strategy
- Maintain strong relationships with media partners and vendors, stepping in for escalations and contract-level decisions
REQUIREMENTS
- 6–8+ years of experience in media strategy or planning disciplines in a digital media agency environment, including 2+ years directly managing people
- Proven ownership of enterprise-level media budgets and senior client relationships
- Strong client and stakeholder presentation skills, including recommendations, QBRs, and new business
- Advanced understanding of cross-channel media planning, audience strategy, and measurement
- High proficiency in spreadsheets, with comfort translating data into strategic recommendations
- Comfort taking a position of thought leadership for clients and agency
- Track record of developing and mentoring strategists into future leaders
