Travel Consultant Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a travel consultant job in Indianapolis?
The strongest path into travel consultant work in Indianapolis is through corporate travel management, where companies in the life sciences, motorsports, and convention sectors run active procurement teams. Roles concentrate downtown and along the North Meridian corridor. Candidates who hold GDS certifications such as Sabre or Amadeus and can demonstrate group or meetings experience stand out most with Indianapolis employers.
Which companies hire travel consultants in Indianapolis?
Employers hiring travel consultants in Indianapolis right now include American Traveler, Voyage Health, and Ascension, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market skews toward corporate travel management firms, third-party meeting and event agencies, and the in-house travel desks of large healthcare and logistics organizations headquartered in the metro.
Are there remote travel consultant jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Desk-based consulting work such as ticketing, itinerary building, and account management is routinely remote, while roles tied to on-site event coordination or in-person client advising are not. About 33% of travel consultant openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the fully remote postings concentrated in corporate travel and leisure booking positions.
How can I get a travel consultant job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Indianapolis is through leisure travel agencies and group booking coordinators that hire candidates with strong customer service backgrounds and train internally on reservation systems. Front desk and hospitality roles at downtown Indianapolis hotels and the Indiana Convention Center campus also serve as practical stepping stones, since many local corporate travel teams hire lateral moves from hospitality. A Sabre or Amadeus certification, even self-directed, meaningfully strengthens an entry-level application.
Which industries hire the most travel consultants in Indianapolis?
Most travel consultant openings in Indianapolis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indianapolis's position as a major conventions and amateur sports destination, combined with a dense cluster of healthcare and pharmaceutical firms that maintain heavy corporate travel budgets, drives sustained demand across those sectors year-round.
