Insurance Sales Representative Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales representative in Indiana?
You must obtain a producer license from the Indiana Department of Insurance before selling any insurance product in the state. The path starts with completing a pre-licensing education course for your chosen line of authority, such as property and casualty or life and health, then passing the corresponding state exam administered by Pearson VUE. Most Indiana employers require at least a high school diploma and expect candidates to hold or immediately pursue their license before their first client contact.
Which companies hire insurance sales representatives in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring insurance sales representatives in Indiana include State Farm, Clint Wilson State Farm, and Superior Insurance Partners/Risk Averse Insurance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Indiana's mix of mutual carriers, regional agencies, and large captive operations means openings are distributed across Indianapolis and secondary markets like Fort Wayne and Evansville.
Which Indiana cities have the most insurance sales representative jobs?
Evansville, Noblesville, and Gary consistently post the most insurance sales representative openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to major carrier headquarters and regional agency networks, while Fort Wayne and Evansville each have sizable commercial corridors and established independent agency communities that generate steady producer demand outside the capital.
Are there remote insurance sales representative jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because client relationship-building and local prospecting are core to most producer roles. About 57% of insurance sales representative openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote share concentrated in roles focused on inbound phone sales, group benefits account management, and renewal servicing rather than new business development.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales representative in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to a captive agent trainee or licensed sales associate program at Indiana-based carriers like Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance or regional Allstate and State Farm agencies, which regularly hire candidates without a book of business and support them through licensing. Lateral moves from customer service representative or claims processing roles within the same agency provide another practical door. Obtaining your Indiana Department of Insurance property and casualty or life and health producer license before applying is the single credential that most distinguishes inexperienced candidates in the state.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales representative jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to insurance sales representative jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings from carriers, independent agencies, and regional employers across the state. Find roles that fit your lines of authority and experience level and apply directly.
