Travel Registered Nurse Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a travel registered nurse in Hawaii?
To work as a travel registered nurse in Hawaii, you must hold an active Hawaii RN license issued by the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Professional and Vocational Licensing division. Hawaii is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so nurses licensed in other states must apply for a Hawaii license by endorsement before starting an assignment. You will also need to have completed an accredited nursing program and passed the NCLEX-RN exam.
How much do travel registered nurses make in Hawaii?
Travel registered nurses in Hawaii earn a median of about $136,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,500 for the lowest 10% to over $147,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire travel registered nurses in Hawaii?
Employers hiring travel registered nurses in Hawaii right now include Voyage Health, American Traveler, and Talented Medical Solutions, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's hospital staffing needs are driven largely by the large integrated health systems on Oahu and the neighbor islands, which rely on travel nurses to fill gaps in high-demand units.
Which Hawaii cities have the most travel registered nurse jobs?
The cities with the most travel registered nurse openings in Hawaii are Hilo, Honolulu, and Kealakekua. Honolulu dominates the market as the state's largest metro, home to its biggest hospital systems, while Hilo and Kailua-Kona reflect steady demand on the Big Island driven by regional medical centers serving communities with limited local nursing pipelines.
How can I get hired as a travel registered nurse in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is completing a nurse residency or new graduate program at one of Hawaii's large hospital systems, such as The Queen's Health Systems or Hawaii Pacific Health, which run structured programs designed for nurses without prior acute care experience. Building experience in a staff RN role first, particularly in med-surg or telemetry, is the most common route to qualifying for travel assignments. Obtaining your Hawaii RN license early and completing BLS certification strengthens any application.
Where can I find and apply to travel registered nurse jobs in Hawaii?
