Which companies sponsor visas for development engineers in Arizona?
Intel, ON Semiconductor, Microchip Technology, Raytheon Technologies, and Boeing are among the Arizona employers with documented histories of sponsoring work visas for development engineers. Intel's Chandler campus and ON Semiconductor's Phoenix operations are particularly active in sponsoring H-1B petitions for engineering roles, as reflected in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Which visa types are most common for development engineer roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for development engineers in Arizona, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA agreement, and some roles at defense contractors may have additional work authorization requirements.
Which cities in Arizona have the most development engineer sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and Chandler account for the largest share of development engineer sponsorship activity in Arizona, driven by Intel's semiconductor fabrication facilities and a concentration of electronics manufacturers. Tucson is a secondary hub, particularly for aerospace and defense development roles tied to Raytheon and the University of Arizona's engineering pipelines. Tempe and Scottsdale also see activity from tech and semiconductor firms.
How to find development engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find development engineer roles in Arizona without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by state and job title to surface openings at Arizona employers like Intel, Microchip Technology, and Raytheon that have active sponsorship programs for engineering candidates.
Are there any Arizona-specific factors development engineers should know about visa sponsorship?
Arizona's CHIPS Act investments have accelerated semiconductor manufacturing expansion, which has increased demand for development engineers and, with it, employer willingness to sponsor visas in this field. The University of Arizona and Arizona State University produce engineering graduates who join local sponsoring employers, creating established hiring pipelines. Defense contractor roles in Tucson may require security clearance eligibility, which affects sponsorship pathways.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development engineer jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
