Which companies sponsor visas for engineering interns in Arizona?
Intel's Chandler campus, Raytheon Technologies, Microchip Technology, and ON Semiconductor are among the larger Arizona employers with established engineering internship programs that have supported visa sponsorship. Aerospace and defense firms concentrated in the Phoenix and Tucson areas, including L3Harris and Honeywell, also hire engineering interns and have experience navigating international student work authorization.
Which visa types are most common for engineering intern roles in Arizona?
Most international engineering interns in Arizona work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students at U.S. universities to gain practical training without employer sponsorship of a new visa. STEM OPT extensions give F-1 students up to 24 additional months of work authorization after graduation, which many interns use to bridge into full-time roles. H-1B visa sponsorship typically becomes relevant after an internship converts to a full-time offer.
Which cities in Arizona have the most engineering intern sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its East Valley suburbs, particularly Chandler, Tempe, and Scottsdale, concentrate the majority of engineering internship openings in Arizona. Intel's large semiconductor fabrication operations are based in Chandler, while the Tempe corridor benefits from proximity to Arizona State University. Tucson is a secondary hub, especially for aerospace, defense, and optics engineering internships tied to Raytheon and the University of Arizona's engineering programs.
How to find engineering intern visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters engineering intern roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search Arizona openings without sifting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform is built for international job seekers, making it easier to identify which Arizona employers, particularly in semiconductor, aerospace, and defense sectors, are actively hiring interns who need work authorization support.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering interns seeking visa sponsorship in Arizona?
Arizona's engineering intern market is heavily shaped by its semiconductor and defense industry presence, which means many roles require background checks or security clearances that can complicate sponsorship for non-U.S. persons. Arizona State University and the University of Arizona both have strong CPT and OPT support offices that can help international students structure their internship authorization correctly. Internships at Arizona-based federal contractors may have additional eligibility requirements worth confirming with the employer directly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering intern jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
