Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Arizona?
Banner Health is the largest sponsor, with hospitals across Phoenix, Mesa, and Tucson regularly hiring international hospitalists. Dignity Health (now CommonSpirit), Valleywise Health, and HonorHealth also have documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Academic medical centers like Banner University Medical Center have additional infrastructure for J-1 waiver candidates through Conrad 30 and federal agency waivers.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Arizona?
H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalists in Arizona, as internal medicine and hospital medicine qualify as specialty occupations requiring a medical degree. J-1 waivers are also significant, particularly Conrad 30 waivers tied to underserved area commitments. Some physicians working for federally qualified health centers may qualify for NHSC loan repayment programs alongside their visa sponsorship.
Which cities in Arizona have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its metro suburbs, including Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, and Glendale, account for the majority of hospitalist openings due to the concentration of Banner Health and HonorHealth facilities. Tucson is the second most active market, home to Banner University Medical Center and several Dignity Health hospitals. Flagstaff and Yuma see smaller but consistent demand, often with J-1 waiver opportunities tied to underserved designations.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international physicians and healthcare professionals searching for visa-sponsored positions. You can filter by state and job title to surface hospitalist roles in Arizona where employers have active sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking visa sponsorship?
Arizona participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which sets aside slots for physicians who commit to practicing in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). Arizona has a significant rural and tribal health infrastructure, meaning J-1 waiver placements in places like Yuma, Kingman, or Fort Defiance are realistic pathways. Physicians should confirm HPSA designation status for any facility before beginning the waiver application process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
