Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Colorado?
UCHealth, Centura Health, SCL Health (now Intermountain Health), and HealthOne are among the larger health systems in Colorado with established HR infrastructure for visa sponsorship. Academic medical centers like University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora and Children's Hospital Colorado also sponsor international physicians. Staffing and locum tenens groups that place hospitalists in Colorado facilities may also facilitate sponsorship, though arrangements vary by employer.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalists in Colorado, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree and residency training. The J-1 Conrad 30 waiver is another common pathway, allowing physicians who completed J-1 exchange visitor training to work in underserved areas of Colorado in exchange for a service commitment, typically three years. Both pathways require employer sponsorship.
Which cities in Colorado have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its metro area, including Aurora and Lakewood, account for the highest concentration of hospitalist positions in Colorado given the density of large hospital systems there. Colorado Springs is the second-largest market, with Centura and other regional systems actively hiring. Smaller cities like Pueblo, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction see demand as well, particularly for physicians willing to serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can strengthen J-1 waiver eligibility.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international physicians and other foreign-trained professionals seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter by state and job title to see hospitalist roles in Colorado where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Because hospitalist demand in Colorado spans large urban systems and smaller rural facilities, browsing Migrate Mate regularly and setting up alerts for Colorado hospitalist positions gives you the most current picture of the sponsorship market.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists pursuing sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado has a number of federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas, particularly in rural counties on the Eastern Plains and in the San Luis Valley. Physicians interested in J-1 Conrad 30 waivers should note that Colorado's waiver slots are administered through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and slots are limited each fiscal year. Foreign medical graduates must also obtain a Colorado medical license, which requires ECFMG certification and completion of an accredited residency program.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
