Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Washington?
The largest visa sponsors for hospitalists in Washington are UW Medicine, MultiCare Health System, Providence Health and Services, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and Seattle Children's Hospital. Large regional systems with multiple facilities are generally more likely to sponsor because they have established HR and legal infrastructure for immigration petitions. Community hospitals sponsor less frequently but do participate, particularly in underserved rural areas.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Washington?
H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalist physicians in Washington, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree. J-1 physicians who completed residency through an Exchange Visitor program may need a waiver before transitioning to H-1B status. O-1A is an option for hospitalists with academic appointments or recognized clinical achievements. Physicians from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN status under the USMCA.
Which cities in Washington have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Seattle has the highest concentration of hospitalist sponsorship opportunities, driven by UW Medical Center, Harborview, and several large private health systems. Tacoma is a secondary market with MultiCare and St. Joseph Medical Center actively hiring. Spokane, in eastern Washington, offers opportunities through Providence Sacred Heart and MultiCare Deaconess, and tends to see stronger interest in internationally trained physicians given regional physician shortages.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international physicians and professionals seeking visa sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by state and role to surface hospitalist positions in Washington where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings that do not mention sponsorship. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-eligible roles, which is particularly useful for hospitalists navigating H-1B or J-1 waiver timelines.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has a number of federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas, particularly in rural eastern Washington and parts of the Olympic Peninsula. Hospitalists placed in these areas may be eligible for J-1 Conrad 30 waivers, which allow J-1 physicians to remain in the U.S. by committing to underserved community service. Washington's Conrad 30 slots are administered through the Washington State Department of Health and are allocated annually, so timing matters.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
