Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in South Carolina?
The largest sponsors for hospitalist roles in South Carolina are major health systems including Prisma Health (headquartered in Columbia and Greenville), MUSC Health in Charleston, and Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. Locum tenens and staffing groups contracted by these systems have also filed sponsorship petitions, though direct employment arrangements are more common for H-1B sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in South Carolina?
H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalists in South Carolina, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree. J-1 visa Conrad 30 waivers are also widely used, allowing international medical graduates who completed J-1 residency training to remain in the U.S. by committing to work in a federally designated shortage area, several of which exist across South Carolina.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Columbia and Charleston generate the most hospitalist sponsorship opportunities in South Carolina, driven by large academic and community health systems. Greenville has grown significantly as a hiring market through Prisma Health's Upstate operations. Smaller markets like Florence, Myrtle Beach, and Beaufort also see openings, often tied to Conrad 30 waiver positions in health professional shortage areas.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters hospitalist jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search South Carolina positions without sorting through roles that don't support international candidates. The platform surfaces opportunities from health systems and medical groups across the state that have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B or J-1 Conrad 30 waiver physicians, which saves significant time in the application process.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina has a notable number of federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), which makes it a viable state for J-1 Conrad 30 waiver placements. The state's Conrad 30 program allocates waiver slots annually, and demand from South Carolina health systems tends to be steady. Physicians pursuing this path must work in or serve a HPSA-designated community for at least three years as a condition of the waiver.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
