Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Delaware?
ChristianaCare is the most prominent sponsor, operating Christiana Hospital in Newark and Wilmington Hospital, and it has sponsored H-1B visa and J-1 visa waiver physicians in the past. Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover and Beebe Healthcare in Lewes also hire hospitalists and have worked with international physicians. Smaller regional groups contracting with these health systems may also hold sponsoring capacity.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Delaware?
H-1B is the most common visa for hospitalists in Delaware, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree. Physicians completing residency or fellowship on J-1 visas can pursue a Conrad 30 J-1 waiver, which requires working in a designated shortage area. EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship through PERM labor certification is also offered by larger health systems for physicians seeking permanent residence.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is a focused resource for international physicians searching for visa-sponsored hospitalist positions in Delaware. The platform filters job listings by sponsorship availability, so you can identify which Delaware health systems are actively hiring without sorting through roles that don't offer visa support. Searching specifically for hospitalist openings at ChristianaCare, Bayhealth, and Beebe Healthcare through Migrate Mate is a practical starting point.
Which cities in Delaware have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington and Newark are the primary hubs, driven by ChristianaCare's flagship hospitals in those cities. Dover is the next most active market, anchored by Bayhealth's Kent Campus. Lewes sees occasional openings through Beebe Healthcare. Because Delaware is geographically compact, many hospitalists working in Wilmington also serve facilities near the Pennsylvania and New Jersey borders, which can expand effective job search geography.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking visa sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allocates up to 30 waivers annually for physicians who agree to work in Health Professional Shortage Areas. Delaware's shortage designations cover parts of rural Kent and Sussex counties, making positions in those areas more likely to qualify. Hospitalists employed at teaching facilities affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University or other regional academic systems may also have access to cap-exempt H-1B filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
