Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Tennessee?
The largest visa-sponsoring employers for hospitalists in Tennessee include HCA Healthcare, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Tennova Healthcare, Ballad Health, and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis also sponsor international physicians. Hospital-employed positions are far more likely to include sponsorship than independent or locum arrangements.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for hospitalists in Tennessee, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a medical degree. Many international physicians also enter through the J-1 visa waiver pathway, particularly Conrad 30 waivers, which require a service commitment at a medically underserved site. Tennessee participates in the Conrad 30 program, and positions in rural counties often qualify. O-1 visas are less common but used for physicians with exceptional credentials.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for hospitalist sponsorship volume, driven by HCA Healthcare's national headquarters and the Vanderbilt health system. Memphis is the second-largest market, anchored by Regional One Health and the UT Health Science Center. Knoxville and the Tri-Cities area (Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol) also have active hiring through Ballad Health and Covenant Health. Rural areas across East and West Tennessee frequently post Conrad 30 waiver positions.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee, with listings filtered specifically by role and state so you are not sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship. Because hospitalist roles turn over frequently and health systems update postings on short cycles, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you visibility into new openings at Tennessee employers before they close. Filtering by city lets you target Nashville, Memphis, or rural Conrad 30 sites specifically.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking visa sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has a meaningful number of Health Professional Shortage Areas and Medically Underserved Areas, which makes J-1 Conrad 30 waivers a realistic pathway for international hospitalists willing to commit to a multi-year service obligation at an approved site. Prevailing wage determinations for hospitalists in Tennessee are set by the Department of Labor based on metropolitan statistical area, so wages in Nashville and Memphis MSAs differ from rural designations. Employers sponsoring H-1B physicians must file a Labor Condition Application reflecting the correct regional prevailing wage.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
