Which companies sponsor visas for hospitalists in Texas?
The largest sponsors of hospitalist positions in Texas are major integrated health systems: HCA Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Health System, and Christus Health. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Texas and Texas A&M Health also sponsor international physicians. Hospitalist staffing groups such as Sound Physicians and Envision Physician Services have placed physicians at Texas facilities as well.
Which visa types are most common for hospitalist roles in Texas?
H-1B visa is the most common visa for hospitalists in Texas, as the role meets specialty occupation requirements with a clear degree-to-job connection in internal medicine or general medicine. J-1 visa waivers through the Conrad 30 program are also a frequent pathway, particularly for physicians completing residency who commit to working in a Health Professional Shortage Area. Some Texas employers also support O-1A petitions for physicians with exceptional credentials.
Which cities in Texas have the most hospitalist sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth together account for the majority of Texas hospitalist sponsorship opportunities, driven by their density of large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and high patient volumes. San Antonio has a strong market anchored by University Health and Methodist Healthcare. Austin is a growing market as its healthcare infrastructure expands alongside rapid population growth. Smaller cities like Lubbock, El Paso, and Amarillo also have openings, often tied to J-1 waiver programs due to shortage area designations.
How to find hospitalist visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters hospitalist jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, making it straightforward to browse verified Texas openings without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can search by city, health system, or visa type to narrow results to your situation. Because Texas has both large urban health systems and underserved rural areas with J-1 waiver slots, the range of options on Migrate Mate reflects that variety.
Are there state-specific considerations for hospitalists seeking sponsorship in Texas?
Texas participates in the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program, which allows international medical graduates completing a J-1 residency to obtain a waiver of the two-year home residency requirement by committing to three years of practice in a designated shortage area. Texas also has a large number of Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can expand the pool of eligible waiver positions. Physicians applying through hospital-based sponsorship should confirm the facility's LCA covers the specific Texas work site, since multi-campus health systems sometimes require separate filings per location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hospitalist jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
