Which companies sponsor visas for IT engineers in Arizona?
Intel's Chandler campuses are among the most active H-1B sponsors for IT engineering roles in Arizona, alongside Amazon Web Services, Honeywell, and Banner Health. Defense contractors like Raytheon and Boeing also sponsor IT engineers at their Arizona facilities. Major consulting firms including Infosys and Wipro, which have Phoenix-area operations, have historically filed significant numbers of H-1B petitions for IT engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in Arizona, as software development, systems engineering, and network engineering roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. L-1B visas apply when an international company transfers a specialized IT engineer to an Arizona office. O-1 visas are an option for IT engineers with demonstrated extraordinary ability, though they require substantial documentation.
Which cities in Arizona have the most IT engineer sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix and its surrounding metro cities account for the majority of IT engineer sponsorship activity in Arizona. Chandler stands out for semiconductor and hardware engineering roles anchored by Intel's large campus. Scottsdale hosts a dense cluster of technology firms and financial services companies with IT engineering needs. Tempe, home to Arizona State University and a growing startup ecosystem, is another active hiring area for international IT engineers.
How to find it engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters IT engineer job listings in Arizona specifically to roles where employers have demonstrated H-1B or other visa sponsorship activity, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. You can search by city, filtering for Phoenix, Chandler, Scottsdale, or Tempe depending on your target industry. Migrate Mate's data is particularly useful for identifying which Arizona employers are actively filing petitions for IT engineering roles right now.
Are there any state-specific considerations for IT engineers seeking sponsorship in Arizona?
Arizona's semiconductor and defense industries concentrate demand in specific corridors, particularly Chandler and the greater East Valley. Employers in these sectors often require security clearances, which can complicate or delay sponsorship for some visa categories. Arizona State University's engineering programs create a steady pipeline of candidates, meaning competition for sponsored IT roles can be strong. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide, and employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before sponsoring an H-1B IT engineer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it engineer jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
