Which companies sponsor visas for structural engineers in Arizona?
Engineering and construction firms with a significant Arizona presence, including AECOM, Jacobs Engineering, Kimley-Horn, and Burns & McDonnell, have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for structural engineers. Smaller structural engineering consultancies operating across Phoenix and Tucson also sponsor, particularly for candidates with specialized skills in seismic design or bridge engineering.
Which visa types are most common for structural engineer roles in Arizona?
The H-1B is the most common visa for structural engineers in Arizona, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. Candidates with a job offer before graduating on F-1 OPT may also bridge to H-1B status. Engineers from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under TN status.
Which cities in Arizona have the most structural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Phoenix accounts for the large majority of structural engineer visa sponsorship activity in Arizona, driven by ongoing commercial construction, light rail expansion, and a wave of semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities in the West Valley. Tucson has a smaller but consistent market, supported by University of Arizona research infrastructure and defense-related construction projects. Tempe and Chandler also see demand tied to tech campus development.
How to find structural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find structural engineer roles in Arizona where employers are open to visa sponsorship. You can filter by state and job category to surface relevant openings without having to sift through positions that don't accommodate international candidates. Given Arizona's active infrastructure pipeline, new structural engineering listings with sponsorship potential appear regularly on the platform.
Are there state-specific factors structural engineers should know before pursuing Arizona sponsorship jobs?
Arizona does not require a state-specific structural engineer license beyond the standard P.E. (Professional Engineer) credential, but employers working on public infrastructure projects often prefer or require licensure. Arizona State University and the University of Arizona both have strong civil and structural engineering programs, which means some employers have established pipelines for sponsoring graduates. The state's seismic activity near certain fault zones also means familiarity with seismic design codes can strengthen your candidacy.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored structural engineer jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
