Which companies sponsor visas for nurses in Arkansas?
The largest sponsors of nursing visas in Arkansas include UAMS Health (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences), Baptist Health, CHI St. Vincent, Mercy Hospital, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. These health systems have established HR infrastructure to support H-1B and EB-3 petitions and have a documented history of sponsoring internationally trained nurses for both temporary and permanent positions.
Which visa types are most common for nursing roles in Arkansas?
EB-3 (Employment-Based Third Preference) immigrant visas are the most common pathway for internationally trained nurses in Arkansas, typically paired with NCLEX licensure and a CGFNS credential evaluation. H-1B visas are used for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) in specialty roles that qualify as specialty occupations. Some facilities also utilize TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nurses in qualifying categories.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most nursing sponsorship jobs?
Little Rock accounts for the largest share of nursing sponsorship activity in Arkansas, driven by UAMS Health, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and Baptist Health Medical Center. Fort Smith and Fayetteville each have meaningful demand through Mercy Hospital and Northwest Health systems. Jonesboro also sees consistent hiring at St. Bernards Medical Center, particularly for med-surg and critical care nurses.
How to find nursing visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate filters nursing jobs in Arkansas specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the time of manually screening postings. You can search by city, facility type, and nursing specialty to find roles at health systems like UAMS or Baptist Health that have an active sponsorship track. Creating a profile also allows employers recruiting internationally trained nurses to find you directly.
Are there any state-specific considerations for nurses seeking visa sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member state, meaning nurses with a multistate license from another compact state can work in Arkansas without obtaining a separate state license. International nurses must still pass NCLEX and obtain Arkansas licensure before beginning work. UAMS also operates a pipeline for internationally educated nurses through its academic medical programs, which can be relevant for candidates with clinical research or teaching interests.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
