Which companies sponsor visas for nurses in Montana?
Billings Clinic, Benefis Health System in Great Falls, St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, and RiverStone Health are among Montana's larger health employers that have historically sponsored international nurses. Staffing agencies contracted with Montana facilities also file sponsorship petitions, particularly for RN and specialty care roles. Sponsorship availability varies by facility size, budget, and current staffing needs.
Which visa types are most common for nursing roles in Montana?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained nurses entering Montana. It requires passing the NCLEX-RN, holding a state nursing license, and obtaining a VisaScreen certificate. Some facilities use the H-1B for advanced practice registered nurses in specialty roles like nurse practitioners, though H-1B availability depends on annual lottery selection.
Which cities in Montana have the most nursing sponsorship jobs?
Billings is Montana's largest city and its primary healthcare hub, offering the most nursing sponsorship opportunities through Billings Clinic and affiliated facilities. Missoula and Great Falls follow, anchored by St. Patrick Hospital and Benefis Health System respectively. Smaller cities like Bozeman and Helena also have hospital employers, though sponsorship volume is lower outside these main centers.
How to find nursing visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate filters nursing jobs in Montana specifically by visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to identify which facilities are actively hiring international nurses rather than reviewing general job listings. You can search by city or facility type to narrow results to Billings, Missoula, or Great Falls. Confirming sponsorship intent directly with the employer's HR team is always recommended before applying.
Are there any state-specific considerations for international nurses pursuing sponsorship in Montana?
Montana is a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member state, meaning nurses who hold a multistate license issued by another compact state can practice in Montana without obtaining a separate state license. International nurses must still pass the NCLEX-RN and apply for Montana licensure initially. Montana's rural geography means critical access hospitals are common employers, and some qualify for federal workforce shortage incentives that can make sponsorship more feasible.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
