Which companies sponsor visas for nurses in Nebraska?
Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, Bryan Health, and Methodist Health System are among the largest health employers in Nebraska with histories of sponsoring international nursing staff. Smaller regional hospitals and long-term care networks across the state also sponsor nurses, particularly where domestic recruitment is competitive. Sponsorship availability depends on the specific role, facility staffing needs, and the nurse's visa eligibility at the time of hiring.
Which visa types are most common for nursing roles in Nebraska?
Most internationally trained nurses working in Nebraska hold H-1B or EB-3 visas. The H-1B applies when the nursing role qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The EB-3 is an immigrant visa pathway commonly used for registered nurses and is often paired with NCLEX licensure and credentials evaluation through organizations such as CGFNS before filing can begin.
How to find nursing visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for nursing roles in Nebraska to see positions from employers open to sponsoring H-1B or immigrant visa petitions. Because sponsorship availability is not always listed on general job boards, using a platform purpose-built for sponsored roles saves significant time in your search.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most nursing sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is by far the largest nursing job market in Nebraska, home to Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health's flagship facilities, and several major specialty hospitals. Lincoln, the state capital, is the second largest market and hosts Bryan Health and other regional systems. Smaller cities like Grand Island, Kearney, and Norfolk have nursing demand as well, though sponsorship opportunities at those facilities tend to be more limited.
Are there any state-specific considerations for international nurses seeking work in Nebraska?
Nebraska participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which means nurses licensed in another compact state can practice in Nebraska without obtaining a separate state license. However, internationally trained nurses must still pass the NCLEX and apply for Nebraska licensure through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services before beginning work. Credential evaluation through CGFNS or a recognized equivalent is typically required as part of that process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
