Search Business Development Consultant Jobs in CaliforniaBusiness Development Consultant Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for business development consultants in California?
Large technology and enterprise software companies are among the most consistent sponsors for business development consultants in California. Firms like Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, Adobe, and Google have filed Labor Condition Applications for business development roles in prior years, according to DOL disclosure data. Life sciences companies based in San Diego and the Bay Area, including biotech and medical device firms, also sponsor for commercial-facing consultant positions.
Which visa types are most common for business development consultant roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for business development consultants in California when the role requires a specific bachelor's degree, such as business administration, marketing, or a related field, and the position meets the specialty occupation standard. The L-1B is used when a consultant transfers intracompany with specialized knowledge. Some candidates on OPT or STEM OPT also secure initial employment before their employer files an H-1B petition.
Which cities in California have the most business development consultant sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and San Jose account for the highest concentration of sponsored business development consultant roles in California, given the density of technology and SaaS companies headquartered there. Los Angeles is active in media, entertainment technology, and e-commerce sectors. San Diego has a notable cluster of life sciences and defense technology employers. Each metro attracts different industry verticals, so the right city depends on your target sector.
How to find business development consultant visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters business development consultant roles in California by visa sponsorship availability, so you can focus on employers who have a documented history of sponsoring. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from companies that have filed LCAs or sponsored workers in comparable positions, which is particularly useful in California's competitive commercial hiring market.
Are there any California-specific considerations for business development consultant visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under DOL rules apply to H-1B positions, and wages for business development consultants in the Bay Area and Los Angeles typically reflect high-cost labor markets, which can affect how employers structure sponsorship offers. California also has strict worker classification laws, which means staffing agency or independent contractor arrangements are less common for sponsored roles. Most sponsored business development consultant positions in the state are direct full-time hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development consultant jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
