Search Events Jobs in CaliforniaEvents Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for events roles in California?
Large entertainment and tech corporations are the most active sponsors. AEG and Live Nation sponsor for event operations and production management roles in Los Angeles. Salesforce, Google, and Meta hire corporate event managers in the Bay Area under H-1B sponsorship. Convention centers and hospitality groups like Marriott and Hyatt also sponsor for senior events positions, though sponsorship is more common at director and manager levels than entry-level.
Which visa types are most common for events roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for events roles that qualify as specialty occupations, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, marketing, communications, or a related field. O-1A visas apply to individuals with extraordinary achievement in event production or experiential marketing. Some roles at Canadian or Australian citizen employers may also see TN or E-3 usage, though these are less typical for events-specific titles.
Which cities in California have the most events visa sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles leads due to its entertainment industry concentration, with demand for concert, film premiere, and brand activation specialists. San Francisco and San Jose generate significant corporate events roles tied to the tech sector, particularly around annual conferences and product launches. San Diego draws sponsorship activity through its convention center and biotech conference circuit. These three metros account for the majority of H-1B filings in events-adjacent job titles statewide.
How to find events visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters events roles in California by visa sponsorship status, so you're not sorting through employers who won't consider work authorization. Search for titles like event manager, event coordinator, and experiential marketing manager filtered to California markets. Migrate Mate's listings reflect employers with a documented history of H-1B filings, which significantly narrows the pool to realistic opportunities for sponsored candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for events roles and visa sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements under Department of Labor rules mean employers sponsoring H-1B holders must pay wages meeting or exceeding the DOL-determined level for the specific role and county. Events roles in San Francisco and Los Angeles counties often carry higher prevailing wage thresholds than the same titles elsewhere. California's large university system, particularly USC and UCLA's hospitality and communications programs, also creates a pipeline of OPT candidates that some employers prefer over full H-1B sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored events jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
